Zermatt on a budget 💸

Why should you visit Zermatt in November? Quieter times have arrived, and you will see fewer people on the streets BUT this time of year still is a great time to visit!

All our accommodations have a fully equipped kitchen, which means you can cook your meals at home (you can even organise your own raclette- or fondue night at home!) 🫕 or visit one of the lovely restaurants in town which are open! Visit the Brown Cow in for a great burger, or .zermatt for delicious pasta or a pizza! 🍕

Some hiking trails are accessible all year round, and if you prefer to get a taste of the winter instead, you can enjoy the ski area on the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise side - some slopes are already open! 🎿

Zermatt is our home, 365 days of the year, and we never get bored ❤️

SEPTEMBER IS HERE! 🍂🍁

We can officially start thinking about all the autumnal fun in September and October! The days are a bit cooler, but still sunny, making it ideal to go out for that longer hike or get yourself a bike day pass and explore the mountains by bike. 🫶

Some of our favourite things to do around this time of the year:

Mountain biking (check out the awesome flow trails or do the 4 lakes bike tour 🚴‍♂️

Hike to the famous Hörnli Hut and give the ol’ Matterhorn a high five once you made it (literally) 🏔

Rock climbing (challenge yourself to climb the Riffelhorn for example)

Paragliding

Spa day! 🛀

The Peak Pass can be purchased until the end of October, allowing you to take every type of transport up the mountain for a full day (or multiple when buying a multi day pass) 👏

Another Summer Hiking Tip that we would love to share with you! 🫶

The Matterhorn Trail.. and the name says it all, you’ll see this mighty mountain everywhere you go 🏔

Enjoy the peace and quietness at Lake Schwarzsee and make your way down toward at Stafelalp restaurant for a nice lunch or a refreshing drink on a hut summer day! 🥃

Where to start, how much time to calculate, and so on? 👇

● Starting point: Schwarzsee
● Ending point: Zermatt
● Duration and distance: approx. 3.5-4 hours (lunch break not included 😊)
● Difficulty level: medium

Travelling to Zermatt with your dog 🐶

We understand like no other that your pets are part of your family! This is why many of our apartments are pet friendly: all you need to do is visit our website, choose your travel dates and tick the box ‘’Pets allowed’’. We are sure that we can find the right accommodation! 🏠

Unlike many other Swiss resorts, your dog travels for free on the cable cars and Gornergrat Railway. The hiking trails and alpine lakes are a real treat for them! 🩷 Do always keep your dog on a lead, as they need to share the mountains with our wildlife (ibex, chamois, marmottes), and they get scared easily. 🐐

Your dog can run around off leash and play in the Zermatt Free Walking Zone (this is the walking path along the Vispa river, between the Kirchbrücke and Haus Alea). Always a short stroll away from our accommodations. 🐕

Summer Hiking Tip! ☀️🇨🇭

The Matterhorn Glacier Trail.. and we can see where the trail got its name from! 🏔

The trail simply is something else compared to the more famous trails around Zermatt (such as the 5 Lakes Trail); the landscape is very rocky, sculpted by the glacier back in the days, and you will walk past many alpine lakes (ice cold!), always with the Matterhorn in view 🤩

Don’t forget to read the information panels to learn more about the formations, the remains and retreating of the glacier, and so on. It is never too late to learn!

●Starting point: Trockener Steg
●Ending point: Schwarzsee
●Duration and distance: approx. 2 hours | 6.6 KM
●Difficulty level: medium (wear sturdy shoes and bring hiking poles if you would like to)
