Increasing sales and improving customer satisfaction is Mii's utmost goal when it comes to her role. This goal is achievable for her, she says, as she does her best to answer client queries and complete bookings in a timely manner.

Mii is one of Turama Pacific Travel Group long service staff, and she is fondly known to many as Aunty Mii. She joined Turama Pacific Travel Group in 1998 as a Meet & Greet agent at the Rarotonga International Airport, before transitioning to Island Hopper Vacations in the Reservations department and seizing the opportunity to learn and grow as a Sales Specialist.

During her 26 years in the tourism industry, Mii has built strong relationships with our international partners, and she is known for her quick, constructive and efficient customer service. Mii currently takes care of the Cook Islands destination and Samoa destination in the Northern Hemisphere markets.

Mii's love for planting is what keeps her busy when she is not at her desk, or you can find her in her garden tending to her flowers and plants. Sewing and cooking is another of Aunty Mii's specialties.

"While the challenge in my role is what keeps me motivated, it's the connection with my Turama Pacific Travel Group family that truly makes my job enjoyable and that much more special", says Mii.

March 2019 was when Tania joined the Reservations team and has been a great asset to the Turama Pacific Travel Group.

"During COVID-19, the tourism industry was hit hard and we all felt the effects of it". Tania was fortunate to be employed by Ports Authority Cook Islands in April 2020 due to her accounting knowledge.

When COVID-19 restrictions were lifted in 2022 and predicting the future influx of tourists returning to the Cook Islands was looking promising, Tania returned to Turama Pacific Travel Group and was over-seeing the Northern Hemisphere markets. "It was a nice welcome back into the tourism industry", says Tania.

In 2023 Tania was assigned to the Retail Department taking on the role as Retail Sales Manager, a very different environment to reservations - working with the public directly through our websites and in person.

"Every now and then, clients stop by the office to put a face on the people who made it possible for them to visit the Cook Islands. This is a bonus as we get to hear about their experiences and learn a little bit about them. I am very glad to be back with Island Hopper Vacations, some new faces but still the same family orientated company, striving to provide the best holiday experiences here in the Cook Islands."

Helping visitors have the best experience in the Cook Islands is the ultimate goal for Destination Management Cook Islands (DMCK) Groups, Events and Wedding Coordinator Matariki Wilson.

Matariki joined the Turama Pacific Travel Group and DMCK department in 2019, after spending 4 years with the Red Cross Humanitarian movement and over a decade as a local newspaper reporter and deputy editor of the daily Cook Islands News.
Matariki describes herself as a passionate Cook Islander with a keen interest in the social wellbeing of her island community and sees her role with DMCK as also helping her community. "In DMCK we specialize in creating tailor made travel packages for groups, events and weddings and to do this we need to engage the skills and services of our community to provide genuine and memorable experiences for our visitors," says Matariki. "In this way I know I'm helping our communities directly as a key philosophy of Turama Pacific Travel Group is to share its success in business directly to our grassroots communities."

This is clearly seen during the 4 to 6 major sporting events organized and managed by DMCK, such as the annual Round Rarotonga Road Race when community groups such as the Cook Islands Girl Guides Association provide crucial water station management for the island running race. They earn income in providing this service and the young women within the association are a beacon of comfort as they provide care for runners on the course.

Specializing in intimate fuss free weddings, Matariki says helping couples to have a magical nuptial in the Cook Islands is a special feeling and a joyful part of her job, despite the high demand for attention to detail required.

"Our work calls for absolute attention to details and is demanding - but seeing the joy our visitors experience in our paradise, the healing connections they make and seeing them fall in love with our islands is job satisfaction on another level!"

In the groups area, DMCK is a one-stop shop for groups visiting the Cook Islands and with strong relationships with local suppliers and industry partners, Matariki and the team at DMCK create all inclusive travel packages tailor made to suit each group, no matter the size or age of travelers - the ultimate goal is to give visitors the best Cook Islands experience.
