In honor of International Day of the World’s Indigenous People, we pay tribute to the indigenous communities of the world. Did you know that archeological findings reveal that Patagonia was inhabited by native peoples as far back as 4,500 years ago?! These native tribes are commonly referred to as the Tehuelche tribes or ‘Fuegians’, whose nomadic people roamed desolate landscapes and endured the tough climate while hunting wildlife and marine life for survival.

Australis takes you on an amazing journey to the “uttermost end of the earth” on modern expedition cruise ships that ply the untamed wonderland at the bottom end of South America.

Australis is an expedition cruise company that specializes in exploring the "end of the world" -- the pristine waterways of Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego at the bottom end of South America.

Catering to only around 200 passengers maximum, our ships undertake three-, four- and seven-night itineraries between September and April each year. Our Patagonia cruise tours sail between Punta Arenas (Chile) and Ushuaia (Argentina) along the Strait of Magellan, the Beagle Channel and other legendary passages including many places where few other cruise ships venture.

During 25 years of sailing and travel to Patagonia, we've had the privilege to introduce more than 100,000 travelers to the glaciers, fjords, sub-polar forests and amazing marine and terrestrial wildlife of Patagonia.
