The Residents of art street tour in San Miguel.
In the San Miguel neighborhood of Santiago, Chile, there is an "Open Sky Museum" -- a series of over 50 murals painted by street artists from different countries. Twenty years ago, this was a run-down neighborhood. Thanks to the brilliant ideas and efforts of Roberto Hernandez and his brother David Villaroel, they began to revitalize the neighborhood by inviting artists from around the world to paint beautiful and meaningful murals on the buildings in the neighborhood, with the permissions of the building owners, of course. And thanks to local guides like Nicolas and Lorena from Urban Adventures, tourists are treated to a series of visual delights as well as educational historical information. In the last photo, the wife, and mother of Roberto Hernandez: Paola Arce Gonzalez and Laura Gonzalez Verdejo. (Stay tuned. More photos to come.)
