Just opened in Xinjiang, the Tianshan Shengli Tunnel is now the longest expressway tunnel in the world, stretching an incredible 22.13 kilometers!
This engineering feat not only cuts through the heart of the Tianshan Mountains but also slashes travel time from hours to just 20 minutes.
This tunnel isn't just about speed; it's a game-changer for connectivity in northwest China, linking the northern and southern parts of Xinjiang like never before.
Maybe even make your next travel adventure through Xinjiang a lot more exciting!

Did you know that Paul Salopek, a National Geographic Explorer, walked an incredible 6,800 kilometers across China in 872 days?

Starting in Yunnan Province in SW China in September 2021, he completed his journey in June 2024, exiting the country from Shandong Province in the east.

Along the way, he crossed seven provinces—Sichuan, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Hebei, Liaoning, Jilin, and Heilongjiang—as well as Beijing.

Salopek’s trek revealed China’s diverse landscapes and cultures, and how people adapt to the challenges of nature. His journey also focuses on human stories, highlighting the everyday lives of those he encountered.

It offers a fresh perspective on China—a country rich in stories, beauty, and resilience, and one truly worth exploring.

Located on the , the Zhengyangmen Archery Tower opens to the public today😍
As a landmark of the city wall structure of old Beijing, it is the highest point in the Qianmen area. From here, you can take in the views of a historic city👀
Constructed in 1439 during the Ming Dynasty, the tower served both ceremonial and defensive purposes. The east, south, and west sides of the archery tower feature a total of 94 archery windows. Back then, the gate was always closed and would only open for the emperor during ceremonial events, such as sacrifices to heaven held in the southern suburbs.
Today, this building is open to the public as a museum dedicated to Beijing's city planning and cultural heritage🌟
I have a picture with it🤳

Last year, I experienced Su Embroidery (苏绣), a local craft that’s one of China’s four major embroidery styles and recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage in Suzhou, east China’s Jiangsu Province.

From there, I learned that these skills are passed on by countless inheritors who devote themselves to preserving our heritage.

Behind the scenes, over 90,000 inheritors in China keep these traditions alive.

This year marks 20 years since China joined UNESCO’s Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH). Today, China has more than 100,000 ICH items, with 1,557 on the national list and 44 inscribed on UNESCO’s global list.

I think it's important to do our part so these timeless treasures continue to inspire generations to come.

On December 13th and 14th, the Geminids Meteor Shower will illuminate the night skies, offering one of the last opportunities this year to witness fireballs streaking across the heavens. Known for its consistency and brightness, the Geminids are among the most anticipated meteor showers in the northern hemisphere.

What sets this shower apart is its origin. Unlike most meteor showers, which are typically born from comets, the Geminids originate from an asteroid named 3200 Phaethon. This unique source results in slow-moving, exceptionally bright meteors.

In China, some of the best spots to watch the Geminids include Yunnan, Xinjiang, and Hebei. To fully enjoy the display, find a dark, open area away from city lights, dress warmly, and prepare to be amazed by this stunning celestial display!

Will you be watching the Geminids this year? Share your plans or the best stargazing spots to enjoy this breathtaking phenomenon.
