The land of Shaoxing has nurtured numerous literary and artistic works. Yue opera, born here, is known as "Chinese Opera" and has ventured beyond the borders, reaching out to the world. Many stories in Yue opera lyrics originate from local artistic creations, among which the well-known play "Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai" is derived from the "Liang Zhu" legend in Shangyu District of Shaoxing City.
The story of "Liang Zhu" is well-known throughout China and has been adapted into many plays and musical pieces. Apart from Yue opera, the most famous work is the violin concerto "Liang Zhu" composed by He Zhanhao and Chen Gang, based on Yue opera "Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai." As the first Chinese Spring Festival after being designated a United Nations holiday approaches, we have specially invited musicians from renowned domestic and international institutions such as the China Conservatory of Music, University of California, San Diego, and Wuhan Conservatory of Music. Together, they will perform the song "Liang Zhu," integrating Yue opera singing style, to bridge cultures and countries through music.
