"I am coral. Some people think I’m just a rock… when in fact, I’m the largest thing alive on this planet. I’m so big I can be seen from space. But for how long? ⠀

I grew for almost 250 million years. Then humans came along and now 1/5 of me is gone. Sure, I live at the bottom of the sea, and you might not see me that often. But you do need me. Do you realize that 1/4 of all marine life depends on me? ⠀

.⠀
I am the nursery of the sea. Little fish depend on me for food, and to hide from the big fish. And guess who eats the big fish? That’s right, you do." #ProtectOurHome ⠀

Welcome to Colombia
Biodiversity is the variety of life on Earth. According to the historical, spatial and temporal drivers Colombia has been choose as the second country most biodiverse in the world after Brazil (https://news.mongabay.com/2016/05/top-10-biodiverse-countries/). One of the reasons for that is Colombia’s location in the tropics. In this zone there isn’t a strong seasonal variation, as in other regions, creating a balance where biodiversity can develop in its maximum expression.
Colombia has too much to offer. It has 9,100 endemic species, 60% of the paramo ecosystem on Earth. In the ranking of biodiversity, Colombia is the first in orchids and birds, second in amphibians and plants, third in palm trees and fourth in mammals. You can do nature tourism in Colombia (http://www.colombia.travel/en/what-to-do/nature), as bird watching, and at the same time you will be helping the development and progress of touristic Colombian regions and providers who maintain biodiversity in Colombia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biodiversity_of_Colombia).

Welcome to Colombia
Colombia is the country with most bird species in the world thanks to its diversity in ecosystems. This country is divided in six natural regions, the Andean Region, the Pacific Region and the Caribbean region with their islands which corresponds to the Insular Region, the Orinoquia Region, and the Colombian Amazon Region. Each of these Colombian natural regions has unique landscapes, such as the Chocó rain forest in the Pacific, the multiple and drastic ecosystems in the Andes Mountains like the Seranía del Perijá or the Tatacoa Desert, the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in the Caribbean Region, the Colombian savannas in the Llanos, and the Amazon Jungle. Colombia is a very special spot for birdwatching and birding tourism, because here you can find around 1,935 bird species, of which around 96 of them are endemic species and around 160 species of hummingbirds. Besides that, here in Colombia you can watch migratory birds that come from the rest of the American continent. That’s why Colombia has been occupying the first place in Global Big Day since 2017 and it is waiting for you to come and meet all bird species this country has.
