When I realized I had booked four groups of clients on the same catamaran tour on the same day, I knew I had to go to Manuel Antonio and surprise everyone! It was so fun meeting my wonderful clients after working together for months. I loved hearing about everyones' different experiences, and seeing their eyes light up when talking about zip lining, rappelling down waterfalls, or seeing a sloth. If you're visiting Fortuna Waterfall and are wondering about the stairs, this video gives a good overall view of what it entails. It's about 450 stairs down...and up, but the waterfall is worth it!

TIP: Go early before the crowds. You do not need a guide.

Bijagual Waterfall is located about 40 from Jaco in the Puntarenas province. Lots of stairs down make for a tough hike back up, but it's worth it! The waterfall is incredible, and the beautiful Pacific Ocean can be seen across the way. The swimming holes are a perfect place to relax and cool down before heading back. Great for a day trip. Jaco tour companies also offer horseback and ATV tours to the waterfall.

Have you stayed at hotel Costa Verde in Manuel Antonio? It's a great value for the price, and there's always tons of wildlife on site! They have some really unique rooms, great for a special occasion!

At Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin in Guanacaste, guests can enjoy hot springs, mud baths, a pool, waterfalls, hiking, a spa, great food, and beautiful surroundings. There are also many on-site adventure activities like zip lining, canyoning, horseback riding, and white water river tubing! It's conveniently located less than one hour from the LIR airport next to Rincon de la Vieja National Park, and only one to two hours to most beaches in Guanacaste. If you don't want to travel long distances, but still want to enjoy a couple of different locations, Hacienda Guachipelin is a great option for a few nights combined with a few nights at the beach.

💥 Local Tip: Free thermal/hotsprings river in Arenal! 💥

Did you know that Rio Chollin is the same thermal river that runs through Tabacon, the luxury hot springs resort outside of Fortuna, and that you can visit it for free?

The entrance is across from the Tabacon hot springs entrance. You can park on the side of the road, and there is usually a parking attendant helping out. You can access the river 24 hours a day, but it's not recommended after dark. Never leave your valuables in your car unattended.

Beautiful Poas Volcano! If you have a day in the central valley, you can visit Poas Volcano first thing in the morning, and then visit nearby La Paz Waterfall Gardens to enjoy the incredible waterfalls and the different nature and wildlife exhibits. You can visit both in half a day.

While Costa Rica has many beautiful beaches, visitors need to be aware of deadly rip currents that occur frequently all over the country, including both the Pacific and Caribbean coasts. If you get caught in a rip current, first and foremost, do not panic! Swim out of the rip current which usually means swimming sideways. The more you panic, the quicker you will get tired, so remain as calm as possible and swim sideways out of the current. Most of Costa Rica's beaches do not have lifeguards so you need to be extra careful.

If you have half a day or even a couple of hours in San Jose, a great place to visit is Rescate Animal Zoo Ave. They are one of the largest rescue and rehabilitation facilities in Central America and do amazing work to help preserve and protect Costa Rican wildlife. The grounds are incredible, and they have a great restaurant for lunch. It's about 20 minutes south of the SJO airpo
