Al volver de nuestra actividad de la tarde, logramos observar este increíble momento. Al ser pasadas las 5:30pm este ejemplar de _Harpia harpyja_ tenía entre sus garras lo que parece ser un _Choloepus didactylus_, Linnaeus’s two-toed-sloth, también llamado Southern two-toed-sloth.
Observar un perezoso en bosques con “poblaciones saludables” de águila harpía no es nada fácil, de hecho este es el primer perezoso que logro observar en la dos temporadas que llevo acá .

Usually known as Tawny-bellied Screech-Owl (austral) is a typical “more often heard than seen bird”. Today this elusive species decided to cooperate with us.
This species is also called Variable Screech-Owl, the specimens from the south part of the Amazon are considered apart from the Megascops watsonii usta.
Beautiful picture of an Amazonian Pygmy-Owl just chilling and the elusive Butterfly Coquette kind of angry with it.

Cuando los tapires se asustan realmente se llevan lo que tengan de frente. Tuvimos este encuentro con este Tapir Suramericano mientras observábamos aves en una de las pocinhas!!! Justo cuando iba a tomar mi celular, un movimiento en falso fuè suficiente para asustar a este gigante tropical.

La Amazonia siempre sorprende, esta vez con un hermoso ejemplar adulto de Puercoespín arborícola brasileño.( Coendou prehensilis). Primera vez que me adentró en el bosque amazónico de noche. Los clientes súper contentos.
Giant Anteater (Myrmecophaga tridactyla) Sin duda alguna esta especie se lleva varios galardones. Su extraña pero cautivadora belleza y su afán por pasar desapercibido lo hacen único. Suele ser “común” en áreas abierta de Mato Grosso, como Pantanal sin embargo para la floresta densa y exuberante que caracteriza la zona de @cristalinolodge es todo un fantasma. Mucha suerte tuvieron nuestros clientes al presenciar semejante belleza.

Los caminantes del bosque son aves también conocidas con el nombre de trompeteros. Estas aves se mueven en grupos familiares compactos. Suelen ser asustadizos sin embargo este grupo familiar de 7 individuos que habita cerca del Lodge aprendió a tolerar la presencia humana, por esta razón se muestran tranquilos ante mi. Muy contento de compartir esta bella especie, considerada no fácil de observar ya que su preferencia de habitad la hace permanecer en los ecosistemas llamados “serras”, que son básicamente formaciones rocosas antiguas, ubicadas en las cimas de las elevaciones presentes en Cristalino Lodge. La verdad tuvimos mucha suerte en poder observar macho y hembra de esta enigmática cotinga. Purple-throated Cotinga.

The Black-faced Hawk is considered not common at the area of Cristalino. The Amazon forest is just fantastic, a box of surprises. We got the enormous privilege to see this amazing raptor. The hummingbird flying is a #blackearedfairy .
