Just to advise, our previous Arenal & Tabacon Hot Springs Day Tour from San Jose has now become the Arenal & Ecotermales Hot Springs Day Tour from San Jose 🌋♨️

The tour consists of a full day return trip from your accommodation in San Jose to the spectacular destination of La Fortuna and Arenal Volcano. Along the way, a stop will be made at the charming town Sarchi, known in these parts as the birthplace of Costa Rica’s Artisans. After arriving in La Fortuna and enjoying a fantastic lunch you will be transported to the stunning hot springs at Ecotermales Fortuna for a relaxing dip in one of their springs. Ecotermales offers beautiful pools of varying temperatures with an incredible natural backdrop. There are even walking trails and their own spa service (own expense) for those looking to make the most of their time at Ecotermales. Afterwards, you will be transported to a restaurant with a great view of the volcano so that you do not miss any opportunity to look at the stunning and classically shaped volcano one last time. Volcanic mudbaths and hot springs! ♨️ There are several locations around Costa Rica which are famous for their geothermal activity, but one of the most volcanic areas has to be the Rincon de la Vieja National Park in the Guanacaste province. There are plenty of awesome natural hot springs you can visit, all fed by thermal vents found throughout this region. Volcanic mud baths, rich with nutrients from the soil, also allow for a complete cleansing of the body and mind - a must do when visiting this part of Costa Rica.

Costa Rica is best known for its beaches, volcanoes, rainforests and incredible landscapes, but did you know that adventure also awaits under the surface? 🪨🪖🔦

There are many incredible cave networks found in Costa Rica, but one of the most remarkable are the stunning limestone caves at Barra Honda National Park in the Nicoya Peninsula. Here you will find massive open caverns filled with stunning stalactite formations. There have even been discoveries of pre-Columbian human remains here as well as artifacts and jewelry which date back to 300BC. With only about half of the cave network mapped, who knows what other discoveries could be made?!

We are pleased to announce a brand new tour for Eco Tours & Travel. Now you will be able to book a full day white water rafting tour with lunch and return transport included during your stay in Guanacaste 🛶🪖

This exhilarating tour starts from your accommodation in Guanacaste where you will be transported east to the town of Cañas where a 4×4 vehicle will be waiting for you to transport you to the launch point on the Tenorio River, home to some of the best white water rapids in Guanacaste. From here you will experience 7.5 miles (12 kilometers) of exciting white water rafting as you make your way down stream, passing through at least 22 sections classed as III-IV rapids. During calmer moments, you will be able to admire the surrounding forests and, if you're lucky, sight wildlife that are common to this area. The white water rafting concludes at Cascabel Falls which is a jaw-dropping 12-foot (3.5 meter) waterfall drop! With the rafting complete, you will be treated to a delicious lunch before making your way back to your accommodation.

We have written an article sharing some exciting eco news coming out of Costa Rica. Over June to September this year, a team from the State Distance University (UNED) and the Nautical Fishing Center of the National Learning Institute (INA) have collaborated in a joint project to save Isla Tortuga's coral reefs by using “coral gardening" methods to help restore the damaged reefs that surrounds the island 🏝️🪸

This technique involves cultivating coral in nurseries; attaching coral fragments to structures on the seabed which allows them to grow in a controlled environment before being transplanted to damaged reefs like those surrounding Isla Tortuga. Under natural conditions, coral can take decades to regenerate where it grows at a rate of 2.5 cm annually. However through coral gardening processes, coral fragments can mature in as little as one year.

This exciting new project could not only help restore the reefs of Isla Tortuga, but could help the many other reefs in Costa Rica which face growing threats from by pollution, sedimentation, overfishing, and rising sea temperatures.

You may be unfamiliar with Rainmaker Park on the outskirts of Quepos, but it's actually an excellent alternative to Manuel Antonio National Park as its less busy and boasts hanging bridges, waterfalls, stunning views and a diverse local wildlife population. Infact it's one of the most important reserves in Costa Rica as it protects a great number of native and endangered species 🦜🦥
