Red-billed Pigeon - Patagioenas flavirostris
locals call this bird Paloma Morada - purple pigeon.
their population was severely reduced in our area, due to poaching.
so we launched a reproduction for re-introduction program .
within a few years we had a large group ready for release.
the released population flourished and is now quite plentiful on the Sanctuary.

one of the many species of wild turkeys found in Costa Rica ..., the Cracidae family.
they were extinct in our area due to heavy poaching. so we brought groups from other areas,
we bred a large group for release, and after a few years we released 20 of this species. they have thrived in the Sanctuary forests, and now are quote numerous.

plenty of wildlife calls the Sanctuary HOME. the Sanctuary is a private property of 25 acres (10 hectares) that has been in Conservation for over 40 years.
secondary and primary jungle - hardwoods & native fruit trees attract many animals and birds.
along the trail to the waterfall you will probably spot some of these beautiful animals. π
Scarlet Macaws have been released on several Nature Reserves in the area. Curu, Barcelo, Cabo Blanco National Park, Wild Sun.
we plant many trees to provide food for them. >
papaya, mt. almond, beach almond, aguacatilla, manzana agua, mango, avocado, palms (they love to eat the palm nuts)...

Sanctuary Waterfall
on the trail to the upper Sanctuary
We promote reforestation by providing rare & endangered hardwoods & native fruit trees, along with providing expert advice and hands on help to landscape natural forest environments [enhancing or creating wildlife corridors] and/or butterfly gardens, at minimal cost to local landowners .
We also teach biodynamic gardening in the tropics, permaculture, and co-creative gardening.
if you want to discuss landscaping or reforestation with native fruit trees and endangered hardwoods
please call us @ 2642 1265. we need to discuss what i have in inventory, what i can find and have ready before June, and what trees you want, how much room do you have, do you want a wildlife corridor, etc.
many questions. so i can help you create a paradise in your own back yard. π
