Whether we are jumping over cascades into crystal clear pools, wading, swimming, climbing or rappelling through waterfalls, the excitement never ends. You'll put on a helmet and harness, then brace yourself for non-stop action. Imagine yourself surrounded by lush rain forest inside a spectacular canyon, full of tropical waterfalls and thousands of years of architecture carved out by nature, with surprises each step of the way. (Class V2 A2 I) Beginner
Fun for everyone! Our Monkey canyon is located only ten minutes away from the town of Golfito. This section of the canyon is perfect for everyone at any age. Yes, a real adventure challenging enough for those looking for two hours of physical activity. After gearing up, we will hike up in the jungle following a narrow trail for half mile until reaching the waterfall. Once here, your guides will adjust your canyoning equipment, and explain the proper way to descend the falls. When you’re comfortable with the procedure, you’ll begin rappelling down the first waterfall, about 30 feet (9 meters). From here on, there are 6 more waterfalls, and one more rappel, some swimming-holes, and a couple of optional short jumps. Once finished, your guides will help you back to the vehicles and you’ll head back to Golfito. This adventure is for anyone, any age. No experience is needed. (Class V3 A2 II) Intermediate
Our fun canyon is located only ten minutes away from the town of Golfito. After gearing up, we will hike up in a jungly narrow trail, for one mile, to the top of the hill, where the first waterfalls is located. When you’re comfortable with the procedure, you’ll begin rappelling down the first waterfall, about 45 feet (12 meters), at the base, the creek leads into a pristine canyon. From here on, there are eight, similar or shorter waterfalls, and two more rappels, some swimming-holes, and a couple short jumps. This adventure can be enjoyed by anyone in good physical condition, with good balance and coordination. Please be aware that this trip is a real adventure. What to Bring with You:
We recommend comfortable shoes (closed-toe) that can get wet with a good grip, i.e. tennis shoes, hiking boots, canyoning shoes. Quick drying clothes (surf shorts, synthetic fabrics). Also, little bag with a water bottle, and personal medication. We recommend to apply sunblock and insect repellent before leaving your room. Only waterproof cameras! After the adventure: (and this stays in the van)
Change of clothes, shoes or sandals, and a towel. And one more thing, don’t forget to bring your smiles and sense of adventure! We provide:
All the necessary equipment for canyoning. The tour includes: transportation from the pier in Golfito, snacks, guides, a short training beforehand, and transport back to the pier. Please let us know if you need a life jacket, (PFD). What to Expect:
Our Canyoning adventures could take from 2 to 5 hours. The tour includes: transportation from Golfito, snacks, guides, gear, a short training beforehand, and transport back to Golfito (Boat options from Puerto Jimenez are also available). Safety being our main priority, we always keep a close eye on the weather conditions. It may be necessary to cancel a Canyoning tour due to heavy rains. In this event, we can offer you another time or date for the same tour. All guides are trained in Wilderness First Aid and CPR, and certified Canyon Leaders by the American Canyoneering Academy. (http://www.canyoneering.net/) There are daily safety checks on all the equipment. Two adventures each day. Times: 7:30 AM and 01:15 PM. Tours last around 3-4 hours. Cañonismo, barranquismo, torrentismo o rapeliando cataratas, es el deporte de aventura mas excitante y nuevo en la Zona Sur de Costa Rica. Cañonismo Costa Rica le ofrece a los participantes la oportunidad de explorar algunos de los cañones, y cataratas mas bellas, y poco exploradas de este país. Nuestros guías están certificados, y con la experiencia de varios años, para llevar a los participantes por cataratas hermosas y con grandes oportunidades de aventura. Una experiencia que nunca vas a olvidar! Cañonismo Costa Rica abre puertas a la exploración de cañones en lugares mágicos, mientras que se disfruta, y se divierten practicando este maravilloso deporte de agua. Ya sea saltando en pozas de aguas cristalinas, nadando, escalando o rapeliando, la aventura es de principio a fin. Preparate para mojarte de pies a cabeza y a tener una gran experiencia! Cada participante se pone un casco, arnes y rodilleras preparando se para la accion constande de la aventura. Imaginen se estar rodeados de bosque tropical lluvioso, desde lo profundo de un canon espectacular, lleno de cataratas tropicales, y miles de años de arquitectura pasmada en la roca por la naturaleza misma, con vistas increíbles a cada paso. Descripción:
Nuestros cañones están ubicados a corta distancia de Golfito. Entre los cañones que mas visitamos esta cerca de La Mona. Se ofrecen TRES secciones: la avanzada (Clase V4 a2 III), Intermedia (Clase V3 a2 II) y principiantes (Clase V2 A2 I). La sección Intermedia: El tour empieza con transporte a un pequeño pueblo; desde ahi, caminamos por un kilometro siguiendo un sendero angosto dentro de la selva hasta donde nos espera la aventura. Al llegar a la primera catara, se deben seguir las instrucciones de los guías por su seguridad. También, sus guías le ajustaran el equipo, y les enseñaran las diferentes técnicas para marcha por el riachuelo, y eventualmente, las técnicas de descenso por cuerdas. Una vez que se sientan en confianza con los procedimientos, empezaremos a descender por la primera catarata (10 mtrs), continuando por el cañon, donde nos esperan 6 cataratas pequeñas, 2 de las cuales requieren cuerda para bajarlas, una de 8 metros, y la ultima de 5 metros. Durante el trayecto tendremos algunas pozas donde podremos hacer saltos. Una vez que terminamos, regresamos por un sendero, por 20 minutos, hasta donde empezamos el tour. Nos cambiamos y regresamos a Golfito. Tiempo total 3 - 4 hrs
Quien puede hacerlo:
Este tour es para personas en buena condición física, que puedan nadar, que tenga la capacidad de afrontar altura, con buen control mental en situaciones de aventura o extremas. No se necesita experiencia previa. Que llevar en el tour:
1- Ropa de secado rapido y que te proteja del sol y del bosque (manga larga, pantalones de material sintetico, lycras, etc).
2- Zapatos y media, aptos para caminata que te protejan bien los dedos, y que tenga muy buena tracción.
3- Una mochila pequeña, para cargar tu botella de agua, y si fuera necesario, tus medicamentos personales.
4- Botella de agua (1 litro).
5- Camara totalmente contra agua, o en un contenedor que sea contra agua.
6- Una jacket para protegerte del la lluvia, o bolsa plastica grande. Que llevar y dejar en el vehículo:
1- Ropa y zapatos de cambio.
2- Toalla.
3- Bolsa para ropa y zapatos mojados
