Okay, let’s do this! So much to discuss. 🤯 Picture (1) 👇 is the predicted landfall for Beryl according to The EURO Model. Picture (2) was the predicted EURO model forecast a little over 2 days ago that I posted. Notice something? Nothing changed, the EURO model has had this thing going into Central Mexico for over 5 days now. Is The EURO Model always correct? Absolutely not. However it is the most consistent model of the 100+ models that are out there now it seems. Again 🤯. It’s even considered more accurate than the popular GFS model that many rely on. I’ve included a Google search result (Picture 3) 👇 validating so.

So, what does “most accurate model” mean? It means The EURO on average predicts the eye landfall within the lowest range of miles out of all the other models out there, including The GFS. Basically it has the least “I was completely wrong moments” out of all the models used. This is the reason that I choose to use apps & websites that base their predictions off the European Model for my vacationers that are in harms way, or may be headed into harms way. Also the same reason I trust The EURO for the weather conditions when I’m planning a fishing trip, and when I was younger chasing waves to surf. I’m getting old, and surfing physically hurts now. 😔

Anyways back to main topic! 😂 I’ve given my reasons on why I trust The EURO, Google verifies why, so what are the local weathermen saying here in Costa Rica, and further north throughout Central America who are on standby also wanting to know where Beryl finally winds up? Most are also saying a more Northern Mexico final landfall also. All this said it is concerning that NOAA’s latest forecasts are trending Beryl further north into possibly South Texas. One thing I’ve learned through the years with tropical systems and their movements, especially living here in Central America for 8yrs, is bet on the trend.

So, do we keep Faith in The EURO, the most reliable model? Or do we bet the other trending models northwards towards Texas? A very complicated situation on this one as The Euro Model just refuses to budge on its prediction, while all the other have. My best answer, and I’m sure you’ve already heard weathermen that actually went to College and studied meteorology (take my words strictly as one opinion guys, it’s just a hobby for me) say that we need to wait and see how much land interaction does Beryl have with Jamaica in the next 24hrs. If there’s not much land interaction, then expect the forecasts to continue to shift north towards the South Texas Coast. If there is a good amount of land interaction then expect that continued westward movement into Mexico. A lot more will be known after it passes by Jamaica and NOAA can start to peg a more accurate final landfall. 👍

Good news is that even though the Cancun, Cozumel, and Belize areas are pretty much going to take a direct hit, Beryl will not be as strong of a Hurricane at its first initial landfall than what was predicted 48-72 hrs ago. 🙏 If you have travel plans there I’m just going to say be smart on your decisions, and expect things to not be completely normal there for a couple of days.

I’ll close with this. If someone were to ask what my personal betting odds would be for final landing of Beryl, I’d say this:

75% Central/Northern Mexico
20% South Texas
5% Freeport or further north on Tx Coast

Hope this helps a few! Let’s see what happens with Jamaica. I’ll check back in mañana. Pura Vida. 🤙

If you have a vacation planned to Cancun, Belize, or Cozumel towards the end of the coming week I would highly suggest rescheduling or canceling your trip as these areas are now just about guaranteed to see major effects from Hurricane Beryl. Once passing through The Yucatán Peninsula the most likely track will continue its path WNW Central/Northern Mexico. There is a chance that the High Pressure currently sitting over Texas could break down some and move East, therefore allowing Beryl to take a more NW track towards The Texas Coast after passing over The Yucatán. Tuesday will be the day that I can say with more accuracy what Beryl’s final path and where landfall will be, but as of right now I say Mexico. Check back here Tuesday for a more accurate update in regards to any potential impacts to Texas. Thanks, Jeremy
