The Biriba (Rollina) fruit tree is really producing well, it can be found on the river-side edge of the tree orchard. It should be picked as is turning from green to yellow. The skin is covered in soft small diamond shape spiky sections.

It is fiberless with a smooth creamy gelatinous texture, with a vanilla custard flavor. The seeds are big and easy to remove. This fruit is great to eat by itself, on pancakes, or with granola. Help yourself to this or any of the other fruit trees

A private hike from our door to four beautiful waterfalls can be arranged with our co-host Esteban (highly recommended). Nearly a quarter of Costa Rica’s lands are permanently protected as national parks or under other designations. Although Costa Rica is a mere spec on the vast surface of planet earth, claiming only one tenth of one percent of the world’s land mass, it contains five percent of the planet’s biodiversity. That includes essential pollinators, a brilliant array of fruits and vegetables, and rain forests. It quickly becomes apparent how vital the region is to our viability in a decreasingly diverse world. Costa Rica is lauded for its progressive environmental policies.
