Visit our villa near Tambor, Costa Rica, during whale season. It is an incredible experience for anyone who loves nature and wildlife. From mid-July to early November, humpback whales migrate to the warm waters off the coast of Costa Rica to mate and give birth to their calves. This is the perfect opportunity for visitors to observe these majestic creatures up close and personal.

There are several whale watching tours available, which are led by experienced guides who know the best spots to see the whales. During the tour, visitors will have the chance to see the whales breach, tail slap, and blow water through their blowholes. Just got back from our trip to our villa. It was our first time visiting during the dry season. Some significant differences that we experienced. No rain whatsoever!!! This also means that the air is drier as well, not as humid as during Sept-Oct when we have been. Also, an interesting thing about this time, what we noticed was very similar to what we experience in Canada during the fall; Leaves on the trees were falling! Maybe not as severe as back home, but seeing bare trees was not abnormal. What was beautiful was the new flower sprouts that were coming from the bare trees. Like a renewal to the whole cycle.

In addition, the evenings seem to be milder - not as hot with a nice little breeze. (we were told this isn't necessarily normal) but was still as enjoyable to be outdoors and take in the beautiful stargazing!

Also, Waterfalls are easier to access and very beautiful to find!! Adding a beautiful hike to an amazing waterfall, where you can jump in and swim and get refreshed, really makes the day’s trek worth it!
