🌿 Meet the Baird’s Tapir – the largest land mammal in Costa Rica and all of Central America! 🐾 With their gentle nature and endangered status, spotting one is truly unforgettable. But this moment? Even more special – we were lucky enough to witness a mother tapir and her young exploring the jungle together on the trails around Sirena Ranger Station of Corcovado! 💚

These remarkable creatures, often found within Corcovado National Park, are known as the “gardeners of the forest.” As they feast on a variety of fruits and plants, they play a vital role in spreading seeds through their s**t, helping the jungle flourish and stay vibrant. 🌱 Seeing them on our tours is always a magical encounter with one of nature’s most fascinating animals!

"My husband and I had an amazing experience on our tour of Corcovado National Park with Selva Connections. Mitch and Paola were super helpful as we were researching the trip, answering all our questions quickly and thoroughly. Then, our guide, Henry, was absolutely incredible throughout the trip. He saw, heard and sensed countless animals, birds and insects and got them in his spotting scope quickly to maximize our views. He also used my phone to take many photos through his scope so that we came home with incredible photos that we would never have been able to get on our own. We were both looking forward to this trip, but we never expected to see sooooo much! Plus, Henry is extremely knowledgeable and explained so much to us that we learned a great deal about the park and everything that we saw. Staying out at the lodge was a special treat. The bunks were surprisingly comfortable and it was wonderful listening to the sounds of the jungle as we were falling asleep and waking up the next morning.

My husband went on a mango kayak tour with Gerald, through Selva Connections, one morning and that was also a great experience. Gerald was terrific explaining the biology of mangroves and pointing out the birds, fish and animals that we saw along the way.
