The tropical screech owl, found in South and Central America, is a nocturnal bird known for its solitary behavior. It preys on small mammals, birds, and insects, hunting from elevated perches. With a length of 25-30 cm and a wingspan of 60-65 cm, it's smaller than other owls. Its distinctive call resembles a mournful cry. This one was found at Manuel Antonio national park!
El búho tropical, encontrado en América del Sur y Central, es un ave nocturna conocida por su comportamiento solitario. Caza pequeños mamíferos, aves e insectos desde perchas elevadas. Con una longitud de 25-30 cm y una envergadura de 60-65 cm, es más pequeño que otros búhos. Su distintivo canto se asemeja a un llanto melancólico. ¡Este fue encontrado en el Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio!

Today we had the Privilege to see this striking coloration in this helmet lizard also known as false chameleon, it is a reptile with cryptic coloration that due to its camouflage is a little difficult to spot. Is an animal that can change colors Depending on their environment, they can also be in the same position for so long that lichens grow on their skin as we can see on the tail! One of my favorite lizards so far!

♦️The rufous-tailed hummingbird is a species of hummingbird found in Central and South America. They are a small to medium-sized hummingbird with bright green and blue feathers on the upper parts and a brilliant white throat.
Males of the species have a distinctive slender bill, while females have a green tail and a slightly shorter bill. This hummingbird species feeds primarily on flower nectar but also consumes small insects and spiders to supplement its diet. Unlike some other hummingbirds, the rufous-tailed hummingbird are not migratory and is generally found in the same area throughout the year.
Males of this species are territorial and will aggressively defend their territory from other males. The rufous-tailed hummingbird is an important species for the pollination of many plants in its natural habitat. Due to its size and shape, it is able to access the nectar of many flowers that other pollinators cannot reach.
The name rufous is from the latín lenguage that means redhair.
