Did you know that plastic cannot be recycled in Costa Rica? In fact, Costa Rica only has the capacity to recycle glass.

This Sailfish sculpture at Marina Pez Vela in Quepos was built by a group of environmentally conscious friends a few years ago. The sculpture consists of over 3500 bottles, 3000 caps, and is an impressive 13 meters in length and weighs 200 kilos.

Check it out when you stop by the marina!

Manuel Antonio National Park Fun Facts!

1️⃣ Manuel Antonio National Park is the smallest of Costa Rica’s 161 national parks but is recognized for being one of the most biodiverse national parks on the planet!

2️⃣ It is home to over 100 types of mammals and over 180 species of birds. Visitors are likely to spot howler, squirrel, spider and white faced monkeys, two-toed and three-toed sloths, iguanas, toucans and mangrove hummingbirds.

3️⃣ The park is nearly 50 years old and contains well marked trails and is regulated to limit the number of daily visitors in order to protect the park’s lush rainforest.

When you stay at Casa Carolina we highly recommend taking a guided tour of the national park in the morning. Pro tip - bring a pair of binoculars!
