Rain in Costa Rica seems to have a million different variations. If you ask a local what the rain is called in Spanish you will possibly get anyone of these names.
The main word for rain is Lluvia but you will be mistaken to only use that translation.

- Pelo de Gato, Means (hair of cat) or Drizzly rain
- Baldazo, Means a downpour or its raining buckets
- Temporal, is a heavy rainstorm for many days
- Aguacero, is a strong afternoon rain
- Se vino la doña de los frescos, is possibly the silliest, meaning the lady who sells drinks is here.
- Está de agua, means its going to start raining

Of course, there is more but these are some of the more common sayings.

With the Rainy Season here in Costa Rica, be sure you are prepared. Here are some 𝗧𝗜𝗣𝗦 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗬 𝗦𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗢𝗡.
1, Pack mosquito repellent!
2, Bring a rain poncho or jacket not too heavy!
3, Always expect the rain but don't be deterred by it, it generally only rains a few hours in the day.
4, Make the most of the green weather, you can see so much more life in the rainy season.
5, The rain is nothing to be afraid of, in all likely hood you will have just as good of a time as any other point in the year.
