Costa Rica Nature and Bird Tour is a 100% Costa Rican company, was born with the idea of offering our clients the opportunity to know, learn, interact and enjoy the natural beauties that our country offers.

Costa Rica occupies a privileged spot in the heart of Central America. While its territory of 19,652 square miles touches both the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean, this small but beautifu

l country is surprisingly accessible and unique in historical and environmental ways.

Being independent since 1821, Costa Rica started as a Republic in 1848 with the declaration of Jose Maria Castro Madriz, who became the last Chief of Staff and the first President of Costa Rica. Today Costa Rica’s democracy is the oldest in Latin America (123 years old) and one of the most stable of the region as well.

In 1948, an amazing event occurred in Costa Rica. Jose Maria Figueres, a brave man who decided to declare peace to the rest of world, abolished the army. This action gave all Costa Ricans and visitors the promise of tranquility whether living or traveling in this peaceful country. Sixty-five years have passed since that amazing decision and Costa Rica is still the perfect example that it is possible to live in a peaceful country and thrive economically. As proof of this, the country has only 12.ooo police officers but over 80.000 teachers and professors. This has given Costa Rica the privilege of having a 96% literacy rate, one of the highest in the world today.

Not only is Costa Rica a leader in peace, it also is known for its efforts in sustainability. Our country has been recognized for its efforts to preserve its natural resources, creating an environmental conscience among its people. Costa Rica is dedicated to passing the messages of sustainability and accessibility from generation to generation. Having 5% of the biodiversity of the planet is a huge responsibility and that is why the creation of National Parks and protected areas is one of the country’s priorities. Costa Rica has almost 30% of its territory designated as protected land. The Caribbean region of Costa Rica stands out for its variety of ecosystems and its beautiful rain forests, which provide a perfect setting to photograph the many species of tropical flora and fauna.

These are some of the reasons why the privileged traveler will enjoy the wonders of nature and experience all the necessary components of an ideal expedition in Costa Rica.
