The whale shark (Rhincodon typus) is a species of orectolobiform elasmobranch, the only member of the family Rhincodontidae and the genus Rhincodon; it is the largest extant fish in the world, measuring approximately 12 m in length. It is a filter feeder. It inhabits warm tropical and subtropical waters. It has been suggested that it has inhabited the Earth for 60 million years. In Mexico it is considered threatened.

Tapirs (Tapirus) are a genus of perissodactyl mammals in the family Tapiridae. It is the only living genus in the family, which includes nine other extinct genera. It belongs to the order Perissodactyla, which also includes horses, to which they are distantly related, and rhinoceroses, which are their closest living relatives.
