We are very excited about plans to preserve the open space in Pura Jungla via the creation of an "Ecological Right-of-Way". This will ensure that the 50 hectare open space between the north and south ridges of Pura Jungla will never be developed, and will continue to be a haven for the flora and fauna who have returned to the tropical dry forest since Ray Beise re-planted the finca over 30 years ago.

The neighbors in Pura Jungla who sign on to the right-of-way will become custodians of the jungle, and our properties will be so indicated in the national registry, which will enhance our home values as well as give us ownership in this magic jungle.

Casa Margarita is a unique 4000 sq ft jungle "tree house" with incredible views of the jungle and Pacific Ocean. Just two miles from the famed Playa Negra surf break, Casa Margarita is built 30 feet above the jungle floor as two homes under one roof - a guest house and master suite connected by a jungle walkway in the treetops. The living spaces are open to the jungle - you can sit in the living rooms and watch the howler monkeys glide past from treetop to treetop.

When we first visited Costa Rica in 1995, we fell in love with a country that is many things at once. Cloud forests, broad central valley, turtle sanctuary, huge national parks, and the beaches. Upon our return the following year, we were introduced to La Pura Jungla, an eco-community created by Ray Beise. After seeing his vision and the lots he was offering, we decided to make Pura Jungla our future retirement spot. Ten years later, Casa Margarita was built, having been designed by the late Edgar Cruz, a native eco-architect who shared our vision.

The result is our dream realized. The guest house has two spacious air-conditioned bedrooms, a bath, kitchen and large living/dining area which is open to the jungle, with guardrails to keep you safe but no walls to obstruct the views. The master suite has another large bedroom, full bath, a kitchenette, and also has living/dining spaces that are open to the jungle views.
