Nine watermills and a fulling mill in the village of Bistrica, near Petrovac na Mlavi, were once treasured status symbols. Watermills were considered a true wealth, and young men and women from miller families were seen as ideal marriage prospects.
Though wheat processing has since shifted to modern technology, eight watermills still produce high-quality flour, prized for making wholesome and flavorful food.

"Here lies Toloje, do not turn this stone, do not disturb this dream," is carved as a warning on one of stećci, the ancient stone guardians of the departed souls' dreams, scattered across the mysterious necropolises of the Raška region and the villages of Zlatibor Mountain. These marble tombstones, medieval gravestones inscribed with Cyrillic letters, pose eternal questions about life and death, bearing witness to the simple, ordinary lives of a distant past in Serbia.
