I had such amazing time in Dali. This is the first place I visited in China, not counting the morning I spent in Kunming, and although I feel that Dali is painting a completely distorted picture of China, I am very happy that this is where I landed.
My impression is that Dali is like a utopia under construction. The city attracts people from all over China who want to change their lifestyle, live more in tune with nature and, so to speak, be part of a solution and not part of a problem. Big topics in Dali are permaculture, organic farming, traditional Chinese medicine, tai chi, holistic well being, art, community projects.
The previos photos I published were all about temples, so I'm leaving here a few photos of other things I enjoyed immensly in Dali.
Strolling through the old town
Erhai Lake
Cangshan Mountain
Big green market
The food
The amount and variety of flowers I consumed (am I becoming a butterfly)

After a very busy season, I am taking some time off and visiting my old friend Johnatan in China. I am being blown away at every step - by gorgeous temples, charming old towns and villages, beauty of nature, food... I feel that every day holds so so much novelty - architecture, temples, lanscapes, tastes, fruits and vegetables that I have never seen let alone tested - all of it so different from what I have seen and experienced before. I haven't felt this way since my very first trip to Asia more than 10 years ago and I am loving every bit od this freshness. 😊 I am seeing life again with beginner's eyes. πŸ™
So you can expect a lot of photos from China in the next couple of weeks. 😊
Also, China has recently started a 30 day visa free for travellers from most European countries. Just saying. πŸ˜‰

Last spring I did my first ever retreat in Spain, Exploring Inner Landscapes. I loved it so much that I am offering it again next year. The retreat is taking place in the South and on top of daily yoga and meditation practice, it has a bit of everything - some mountain time, some beach time, exploring picturesque small villages and also iconic historical sites.
The link is in bio, the bookings are open, so don't wait too long or you might lose your spot.

Is 20 photos too much for a carousel post? Objectively, yes. Subjectively, it's impossible to choose less to represent the week we spent together on Mardi Himal Trek. It's very hard for me to write anything meaningful now as I am still in awe of the presence and the closeness of the Himalayas. So I'll just leave the images to speak for themselves. Thanks to my fonderful guests who were brave enough to step outside of their comfort zone and to our amzing guides from

What a beautiful week in has been in the fairytale land of Cappadocia 🀎
We practiced, we hiked, we visited beautiful and truly unique archaeological sites, we enjoyed the soft November sun, and most importantly we met new friends and reconnected with old ones! 🫢
Thank you to everyone who took part in this retreat!

This is my first time in Cappadocia in November. I am loving it all -

the intensity and crispiness of light, but without the heat,

how the leaves of apricot trees are more orange than the fruit they bear

the peace and quiet, even in the center of GΓΆreme

the loud rustling of waulnut leaves

sharp shadows of birds as they fly over the rounded Cappadocian slopes

I didn't know this, because it's my first time here in November, but autumn is THE season of Cappadocia.

The time has almost come for our yearly pilgrimage to the Himalayas. We start off on the 15th of November and this year we are taking it a step further all the way to 4000m altitude. This will for sure be an advanture, a challenge, and a feast for the eyes. I still have two spots left if you want to join and also I am giving you a heads up that next year I won't be doing this retreat, and who wants to wait till 2026 to take a trek in the Himalayas off of their bucket list?!

I still can't process all the beauty we saw over the week at our yoga cruise in Turkey.
We had a week-long summer extension with the best food (no photo evidence as it would disapper at light speed), most amazing sunrises and sunsets, sleeping under the stars, swimmimg in bays with florescent plankton, doing yoga with the gentle rocking of the boat, snorkling all day long, and hiking through this remote landscpe dotted with ancient ruins and few locals that always welcome us with a cup of tea and a genuine smile.
I always feel that spending so much time on this boat and in these waters over the years has completely ruined me in the sense that every other boat, any other cruise that I've been on for me has just been... well it's nice.
Honestly, there's no better way than to experience Tuskish coast from a beautiful boat! β›΅οΈπŸ’™

If you've ever visited Turkey, doesn't matter the region, you have for sure seen this pretty-looking dark blue glass bead in all shapes and sizes hanging in every shop, restaurant, and office. It's also often worn as a piece of jewelery. This is Nazar Boncuk, in English reffered to as Evil Eye. The origins of it far predate the existence of modern Turkey - it has been used as an apotropaic device (averting bad luck) for millenia in this form all across the Mediterranean.

The belief is that a malicious or an envious look from someone can cause harm and the Nazar Boncuk is there to literally soak in this energy into itself.

What I find interesting is that this belief of evil eye has existed all over the world in unrelated cultures. For example, in Serbia, we use a piece of red thread that is tied to one's wrist for the same purpose of protection. This is often used by newborn babies and pregnant women, as they are seen as particularly succeptible to the influence of malicious looks. It's not uncommon even today to see babies with a red thread tied around their wrist.

Is there a similar practice or a belief in your culture, something that's used to avert "bad energy"?

Just a bit more than a month left before we board our dear ship and spend a week cruising the most beautiful Mediterranean bays you've ever experienced. I have a few spots left on the boat, so don't wait to long, otherwise you might miss out on all the turqoise waters, all the magnificent views, all the yoga on the boat, and all that magnificent Turkish food. This is the holiday that you need.

Here are my recommendations of some things to do in Istanbul if you have more than a couple of days in the city. If you're there just for a day or two, then of course, go to Aya Sofia and Blue Mosque, roam around Sultanahmet, choose one of the palaces, shop in a bazar. But if you have some time extra after you've covered all the essentials and you want to avoid the biggest crowds, these are some of my favorite places. I'll share only three today, apparently I have too much to say about Istanbul for Instagram's word limit. πŸ€ͺ I'll share more in the following days. πŸ™

1. SΓΌleymaniye Mosque - this is a truly magnificent mosque from the 16th century designed by Mimar Sinana, the famous architect. Equally impressive as the interior of the mosque is the view from it's front yard. I think this my favorite viewpoint in the city and my second or third favorite mosque in the city. You can combine this easily with your trip to the Grand Bazaar and the Egyptian Bazaar. If you continue roaming the streets uphill, you'll reach this beautiful mosque. Even if you're not into mosques, or islamic architecture, still go for the view.

2. Kuzguncuk - a beautiful charming area by the Bosphorus, it's a bit away from the major places of turistic interest, so I'd say still at least a bit undiscovered by mass tourism. Go here to roam the streets, by handmade goods, and have Turkish breakfast. If you're pressed with time, you theoretically can combine Kuzguncuk with ⬇️ πŸ“·

3. Prince's Islands - if you haven't been to Istanbul, I bet you didn't know that there are islands that are considered a part of the city. Well, there are several of which four are open to public and unless they will most likely eliminate three biggest headache triggers you might have in Istanbul - too much traffic, too many people, and too little greenery. There are no cars on these islands, like none. πŸ₯° They are gorgeous places to spend the whole day roaming around and admiring beautiful villas and their perfect gardens. You can also rent a bike and go to the top of the island for views like this. πŸ“·

There are places in this world that captivate human imagination so easily. Cappadocia is certainly one of such places- the land shaped by millenia of wind and water erosion and centuries of human devotion. Nature made this place into a kind of a rocky desert, but sustained love and devotion of the people who have been living here has transformed it into a work of art. For me, there is no other place on Earth where Nature and human worked so harmoniously to complete each other. Cappadocia is full of secrets and what you see from up above is completely different from what awaits you once you start walking through this wast lanscape where churches, monasteries, ancient and modern dwelings are literraly carved into the fabrics of nature.

If you've been to Cappadocia, what made the biggest impression upon you?

If you want to catch different perspectives of Cappadocia with me this November, the link is in Bio, and the retreat is happening from the 2nd till the 9th of November.
