Cuba's history is amazing. Our tours include visits to many fascinating cultural sites. Below is a photo of the Mausoleum built for Ché Guevara. He was buried with full military honours on 17 October 1997 after his remains were discovered in Bolivia, exhumed, and returned to Cuba.

My Colonial Cities Cuba Bike Tour will visit the final resting place of Ché. For information on the tour that runs from Feb 27 - Mar 7, 2026 see the tour website at:

I love seeing all the unique and interesting birds 🐦 in Cuba. I bought a new book that will be with me for all future tours to help us identify and learn about the birds we see in our walks and hikes between bike rides.

Our bike tours are fully supported by a luxury bus that travels with us throughout the ride. It’s your rolling oasis—ready with bottled water to refill your bike bottles, snacks to energize you, and plenty of space to relax whenever you need a break.

Feel like skipping a climb, shortening the route, or taking a day off? No problem! You can hop on the bus at any point during the ride. With spacious seating and room to spread out, it’s easy to keep your essentials like sunscreen, fresh clothes, snacks, and extra cycling gear within reach.

When you're not riding, your bike is securely stored on the bus, ready for the next adventure.

Join me next season.

Cuba is rapidly evolving into a private sector economy, with small businesses selling a wide range of goods that were previously only available in government-owned stores. It's fun learning where to go to find things as each private store sells rather random items, most often a combination of packaged foods, small household items, beer and rum.

Government stores like Panamericana still exist but they are overpriced and mostly empty of clients, except for the ones that import appliances and other major items. I didn't buy anything at these stores during my 2.5 months in Cuba.

Almost all fresh produce (vegetables and fruit) is purchased at markets and these have been around forever. Some markets are permanent, but most are small-scale with items sold from mobile carts, or at weekly markets that pop up in local parks. These weekly markets have the best prices and are party-like neighbourhood events, sometimes with entertainment and bouncy castles for kids.

I did a tune up of my bike after doing 2,000 km in Cuba this winter. It only needed cleaning and some adjustments.

Bonus though, she got some well deserved new bar tape.

One of the most fun things to do in Cuba is to have a ride in a vintage car. It may seem cliche, but I have to say it's a wonderful experience. Everyone I've ever seen in one of these cars is smiling from ear to ear (and I've seen thousands).

Both of my tours include a one-hour classic car ride in Havana.

I came across this courtyard where a husband and wife team were selling plants and other very unusual items.

I asked if I could take some photos and gave them some money for agreeing. They insisted that the money would go toward buying food for their cats.

Good times wandering the streets of Havava.

I can never get enough of watching the waves on the Malecon.

I visited Colon Cemetary and located the burial crypt of Celia Sanchez Mandulay, the Heroine of the Revolution and namesake of this page.

There is a saying that all Cubans loved Celia. She was said to be made of honey and iron, sweet and strong.

The crypt is part of the Monument to the Revolutionary Armed Forces.

Colon Cemetary is a beautiful place to visit a little bit south of the Malacon on the west side of Havana.

Washed and ready to pack for the trip home after 2.5 months in Cuba.

No mechanical issues and only 3 flats all in the first week (proving to me flats are just about luck as they were all nasty cuts in different places and then no more).

I think she deserves some new bartape🙂. I've left this tape on for a few years and rather liked how it made my bike look well used. I am at about 15,000 km on this bike mostly in Cuba.

My two 2026 Cuba bike tours are already posted on

Today I crossed Havana Harbour on the ferry to Regla, then rode to Brisas del Mar. It is just beyond Guanabo, maybe too far, as there is nothing much left to do there.

I dropped by my favourite beach bar in Guanabo before cycling west, and crossing the Rio Boca Ciega. My final ride to the ciclobus got me back to Havana via the tunnel under Havana’s Harbour.

Another lovely day on good cycling roads. Next year I am thinking of offering a few days of cycling pre- or post-tour taking small groups on short adventures around Havana.

Let me know if this interests you.

My exploration of Havana continues, every day better than the last.

I'm loving every minute of my 10 weeks in Havana when not leading bike tours. How do you like this photo of the late daylight down Neptuno in Havava last night?
