Centre of Tourism and Solidary Economy São Vicente
The Centre of Tourism and Solidary Economy is located on the first floor of the Municipal Market in Rua de Lisboa, Mindelo. It aims to promote the rural areas of the island of São Vicente, Tourism and Solidary Economy Routes (RoTES), Ecological Pedestrian Paths (PEPs) and underwater trails created in the framework of the “Solidarity and Sustainable Tourism Network of São Vicente” Project.
In addition to this, it is also an information centre, and an exhibition space where a variety of local products are sold. These products and artifacts are all made in São Vicente and come from Agro-Food Processing Units which have been improved and/or created in the framework of the project, or from producers and craftsmen/craftswomen of São Vicente.
The project “Network for the Promotion of Solidarity and Inclusive Tourism, Sustainable Development and Valorisation of the Island of São Vicente” was financed by the European Union and promoted by AAN (Association Friends of Nature), CERAI (Centre for Rural Studies and International Agriculture) and CMSV (Municipal Chamber of Sao Vicente) in collaboration with the following partners: Pro Empresa (Business Support and Promotion Institute), ISCEE (Higher Institute of Economic and Business Sciences), São Vicente and Santa Luzia Protected Areas Program of the Ministery of Agriculture and Environment (MAA) and Rural and Community Associations of São Vicente have then joined the project.It was implemented between 1st February 2016 and 30th September 2019
