Cape Verdean Cuisine 🍲🌴 is a celebration of rich flavors and cultural heritage, and at the heart of this culinary tapestry lies the beloved traditional dish known as Cachupa!

This iconic meal embodies the essence of Cape Verdean culinary tradition, offering a delightful blend of ingredients and a taste that resonates with the soul ✨

👉 What is Cachupa?
CacHupa is a hearty stew that mirrors the vibrant spirit of Cape Verde. Its core ingredients typically include a variety of fresh seafood like fish, prawns, or lobster, combined with aromatic spices, tomatoes, onions, garlic, and a touch of local herbs. The flavors meld together in a simmering pot, creating a symphony of tastes that captures the essence of Cape Verdean coastal life.

The recipe for Cachupa can vary slightly based on personal preferences and regional variations, but here's a general recipe for this traditional Cape Verdean dish:

Ingredients (10 servings):
4 cups of blended corn bean
200 g of beans
200 g of beef
300 g of pig's feet
200 g bacon
2 large potatoes
4 chorizo sausages
2 cassava
2 sweet potatoes
200 g of cabbage
2 onions
2 bay leaves
2 garlic cloves
Olive oil to taste
Salt and pepper to taste
Method of preparation:

Preparation method: 1h 30min
- Place the chopped meat, bacon, a pig's trotter, chorizo, pepper, salt or meat broth in a pan.
- In a pressure cooker, boil the corn kernels and beans for 30 minutes, covered with water, 1 onion, 1 drizzle of olive oil, 1 bay leaf, and salt.
- Then, in a larger pan, place the beans with the corn, cover with water and bring to a boil.
- Add the marinated meat.
- When everything is almost cooked, add the potatoes and cabbage.
- Once cooking is complete, let it rest for a few minutes, and it is ready to be served. The cachupa should be a little liquid​.
- Feel free to adjust the ingredients and spices according to your taste preferences.

Some variations may include adding additional vegetables or using different types of seafood based on availability and personal choice 🍽️
