Free Amadeu illegally imprisionated

FREE AMADEU OLIVEIRA A POLITICAL PRISONER IN CABO VERDE INCARCERATED SINCE 2021

Amadeu Oliveira, a Cabo Verdean citizen, lawyer and former member of the parliament, publicly denounced the judicial system in Cabo Verde and accused members of the Supreme Justice Tribunal of corruption and of committing illegalities, has been incarcerated for over 3 years. Amadeu Oliveira was unjustly detained, preemptively arrested and subsequently sentenced to 7 years in prison, without any concrete proof, for crimes against the rule of law and prohibited to run for any public office for a period of 4 years after serving his sentence.

According to a former Cabo Verdean attorney general and other well-respected national and international lawyers, the case against Amadeu Oliveira is filled with false accusations, illegalities and constitutional violations and based on their findings I am seeking Amnesty International’s involvement to help free Amadeu Oliveira for voicing his opinion against a corrupted system and for being wrongly accused of a crime he did not commit.

I am a Cabo Verdean-American citizen, with a strong sense of justice and I believe in upholding, protecting and respecting the rights of every human being. I do not have a law degree/background nor do I have a profound knowledge of the Cabo Verdean judicial system, however I am a concerned citizen, whose wish is to bring justice and global attention to Amadeu Oliveira’s unfair and unjust arrest and sentencing, to gain support from people around the world and to ultimately see Amadeu Oliveira free.

Amadeu Oliveira dared to speak out, to publicly denounce the injustices, illegalities and corruption within the Cabo Verdean judicial system and the only way they found to destroy and to keep him quiet was to strip him of his freedom by sentencing him to 7 years behind bars.

Amadeu Oliveira is a political prisoner currently being held at Ribeirinha prison, on the island of Sao Vicente.
