Esta espécie é uma planta endémica de Cabo Verde que precisa de ser preservada e conservada urgentemente, para que não desapareça definitivamente dessas ilhas.

Conheça algumas das qualidades desta espécie e entenda os motivos deste cuidado e preservação:

👉 Está catalogada como em Perigo na Lista Vermelha da (União Internacional para Conservação da Natureza);
👉 As suas tâmaras são de uma qualidade ímpar e muito doce, muito utilizadas e valorizadas na culinária local;
👉 As suas folhas são utilizadas para alimentar animais (cabras sobretudo) e para a produção de peças artesanais;
👉 É uma das árvores mais frutíferas valorizadas no mundo;
👉 É uma excelente opção para decoração de ambientes abertos e públicos (praças, jardins, canteiros) e criação de pequenos oásis (como a do Algodoeiro e de Beirona).

The Date Palm tree is a Cabo Verde endangered species that need to be preserved and protected urgently in order to avoid its extinction from our islands.

Let's learn some qualities of this species and understand why we should care for and protect them:.

👉 These palm trees are listed as Endangered by the Red List of the (International Union for the Conservation of Nature);
👉The taste of its dates is unique and sweet. Its fruits are widely used in the local cuisine;
👉 Date Palm tree is one of the most valued fruit plants in the world;
👉 Their leaves are used to feed animals (especially goats) and to produce artisanal handcraft;
👉 They are an excellent option for decorating public and open spaces (squares and gardens). They grow as small Oasis, like the ones in Algodoeiro and Beirona.

Learn more with the work that Project Biodiversity is doing framed in the Program of the Endangered Date Palm Tree together with (General's Direction of Agriculture Silviculture and Farming) and the Municipality of Sal Island.
