Curacao Rental Homes celebrates World Heritage Day

April 18th, each year, is designated around the world as World Heritage Day. The idea was first conceived by the International Council on Monuments and Sites (COMOS).

World Heritage Day was formally accepted at the UNESCO General Conference in 1983 as a day dedicated to the conservation of World Heritage sites worldwide. This year’s theme is Shared Culture, Shard Heritage and Shared Responsibility.

In December 1997, the inner city of Willemstad was awarded the World Heritage status. The Historic Area is made up of four historic districts, 17th century Punda, 18th century Otrabanda and 19th century Pietermaai and Scharloo. These are separated by the waters of Sint Anna Bay and Waaigat which turned Historic Willemstad into an important port-town in the Caribbean.

Guests staying with us are offered a GRATIS walking tour of the inner city with Marcia. Our aim is to share what past generations have passed onto us. We leave you with a quote from the World Heritage Committee:

Last night we went to check out BlackJack Curacao and we highly recommend Blackjack Curacao - Eat. Drink. Enjoy. Enjoy a nice meal, watch a game and enjoy nice drinks!

Also highly recommend chicken teriyaki! So so so good!

A new Restaurant called Laman (before known as Limoncello) has just opened!

Not only is the view spectacular but the food is delicious!
We tried the Tuna Sliders, Salmon Cedar Plank , Shrimp Pasta and of course the brownie!
It was delicious and now you can try it too!

Yesterday we attended Curacao Culinary Team 1st cook out which was hosted by CHATA.
We got to taste a delicious 3 course meal and score it. This would later on help the chef’s prepare for the ultimate cook out in Miami in June of this year!

5th Annual CAP Aviation Golf Classic 2018

Curacao Rental Homes participated in the annual CAP golf classic, a tournament which achieved its first lustrum.
The weekend kicked off with a Networking Party on top of the Tafelberg (Table Mountain). The view of Spanish Water and Santa Barbara Estate took my breath away.

Each player had the prospect of shooting a $1,000,000 worth hole-in-one from the mountain down to the 13th hole, far below, on the Old Quarry Golf Course. Regrettably, no-one did!
After the shoot-out, we tried various cocktails, offered by Chobolobo. My favorite was Sunrise Delight which consisted of Henry's Gin, Tamaréin, tonic, and cucumber. I vote it Curacao's national gin cocktail.
Crazy Peanuts and fireworks topped off the evening. CAP sure knows how to throw a party!

On Saturday, many teams partook in a Texas Scrabble match on The Old Quarry Golf Course. Although Curacao Rental Home's team didn't win, Charlene, our team member, won the Longest Drive, on Hole 18.
Once again, no-one won the BMW hole-in-one on the 16th hole. Curacao Airport Partners raised Naf 51,000 which will be used to fund education, in aviation, for Curacao's youth.
