As part of the National Tourism Conference that the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) and the Ministry of Economic Development (MEO) will organize on the upcoming World Tourism Day, September 27th, the first pre-conference session on the topic ‘Discovery’ took place. The goal of the session was to jointly address the challenges and uncover and celebrate our strengths as a tourist destination. Recently, the Curaçao Tourist Board completed a Social Impact Report, based on the organization’s contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs consist of 17 goals formulated by the United Nations as a universal call to action to eliminate poverty, protect our planet, and ensure that by 2030, all people can live in peace and prosperity. From this perspective, CTB, as an organization, took the initiative to have the D-TAP Foundation prepare a report on CTB’s contributions to the SDGs. The report helps identify and measure the impact of CTB’s activities that contribute to sustainable development. CTB’s Counterpart Director, Mr. Muryad de Bruin, accompanied by Mrs. Lara Melkert from D-TAP Foundation, officially presented the report to the Minister of Economic Development, Mr. Ruisandro Cijntje. Recently, a total of 18 course participants received their certificates as Tour Guides as part of the Hospitality Industry Training Program. The participants completed an intensive crash course in which they acquired basic theoretical and practical knowledge to enter the hospitality industry. During a pleasant ceremony, the participants received their certificates from the Sector Director Economic Development and Innovation, Mrs. Zulaika Mook, in representation of Minister Ruisandro Cijntje, accompanied by representatives from the Tula Museum Foundation, Mr. Shurbey Alberto, President, and Mrs. Drs. Jeanne Henriquez, who developed the course. Those who completed the course are now working at various museums and tourist attractions in the Bándabou area. Continue reading⤵️

Recently, the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) organized a presentation for members of the Parliament of Curaçao and Cabinet Pisas ministers, titled: 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰. The main objective was to highlight the impact of the tourism industry as an important economic pillar for our island. During the presentation, a summary was provided of the statistics related to stayover tourism, airlift, and the activities that CTB is executing in both marketing and tourism product development. Opportunities and challenges for the coming years were also highlighted. The session was opened by the Minister of Economic Development, Mr. Ruisandro Cijntje, while from the CTB; Mr. Hugo Clarinda, Deputy Director, Mr. Muryad de Bruin, Counterpart Director, and Mrs. Christine Campagnard, Business Intelligence Manager, presented the information.

Curaçao’s stayover tourism is experiencing an increase from all major markets, including Brazil. Currently, Brazil is among the top 5 markets from which Curaçao receives the most stayover tourists. In 2023, Curaçao closed the year with over 26 thousand stayover visitors from Brazil. In the first quarter of this year alone, Curaçao received 10,552 stayover visitors from Brazil. This increase is attributed to the growth in air connectivity, including the new direct flight from Brazil introduced in June last year. Considering the growing number of Brazilian visitors, the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) organized a Basic Portuguese course for tourism industry employees who have direct contact with tourists. 65 tourism industry employees completed the course and received their certificates from the Minister of Economic Development, Mr. Ruisandro Cijntje. During a press conference, Minister of Economic Development, Mr. Ruisandro Cijntje together with Mr. Hugo Clarinda, deputy director of the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB), provided information regarding a National Tourism Conference to be organized on the upcoming World Tourism Day, September 27th. Every year on September 27th, World Tourism Day is commemorated with the objective of promoting the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, and economic value. The focus of the conference will be on sustainable growth of the tourism industry for the benefit of the Curaçao community.
