One of the oldest land houses on the island is Jan Kok. The landhouse was built in 1840 to replace the one built in the beginning of the 18th century. From the terrace there's a view of the salt flats of the St. Marie Bay where nowadays flocks of flamingos brighten the landscape. You can visit the country house; Nena Sanchez (a famous local artist) has a gallery there.

Did you know that Landhuis Habaai was renowned for its straw hat production around the start of the 20th century. Straw weaving courses were given here and Panama hats were produced on a large scale by 1910. In 1965 the plantation house was thoroughly restored. With new ownership acquired at the end of 2023, restoration plans began in January 2024, aiming to revive the manor's grandeur while introducing innovative services.

The new owner has brought together a dynamic team of young professionals dedicated to making Habaai Moments an unparalleled experience.
