The Family House is a unique project that works for the benefit of parents and children in Cyprus. It´s essential goal is to connect families and create a community and learning centre for all families in Nicosia, whatever race, religion or family structure they belong to. The Family House is a place for education, advice, support and connection. By offering a variety of educational courses starti

ng from Pregnancy, the centre aims to substantially improve the bonding, health and well-being of families and children from before birth on wards. It strives to support parents in every aspect of family life, no matter in which family phase they are and invites families to socialize, learn and develop, enjoy food and company, exchange experiences and take home food for mind. Through experiential activities, demonstrations, role plays and problem solving methods parents learn to be effective in their parenting, to be kind and firm and to build a home of cooperation and mutual respect. An additional focus lies on Nutritional Education. The Family House has given itself the mission to educate families about Nutrition and inspire change in families´ food habits. Through lectures and active cooking classes, for both parents and children, we promote the mission for better food and food education. A wood workshop and a Reggio-inspired art studio will further promote creativity, open-mindedness, inquisitiveness and curiosity. All features that strengthen children in their development. Both workshops will also offer combined parent and children classes, promoting an intense experience of connection. The refreshment area in The Family House will further inspire families to enjoy and try healthy food, by serving real, homemade and healthy dishes. Children will be encouraged to try new foods through special little programs and active vegetable planting shall raise their interest and joy in home-grown vegetable and fruits. Throughout the house, shelves will be set up inviting visitors to pick a book, read it to their child or simply enjoy flicking through a book, letting pictures inspire them and take them to different worlds. But also, specialized literature on parenting and nutrition will be displayed, to deepen the knowledge in these topics. The idea of promoting reading at The Family House comes not only from the personal passion of the founders, but furthermore The Family House wants to communicate the various essential benefits of reading for every individual and families in special. The Family House defines itself as a sustainable business, seeking to work towards sustainability in the social, the environmental and the economy sector. It not only sets these values for its own business, but aims to teach families about social and environmental sustainability and encourage them to include it into their daily habits and internalize it into their lifestyles.
