Christian Basilica 👌✨

Located in Kato Pafos, the Panagia Chrysopolitissa Church was built in the 13th century over the ruins of the largest Early Byzantine basilica on the island. Within the compound is St. Paul's Pillar, where according to tradition, Saint Paul was flogged before the Roman governor Sergius Paulus was converted to Christianity.
The church was originally seven-aisled, but was later reduced to five aisles. The floor of the basilica was covered with colourful mosaics, some of which are still preserved.

Kathikas village 🏛🌿⛰

Located in the Pafos region, at an altitude of almost 700 metres, the traditional village of Kathikas has been inhabited since ancient times and offers tranquil environs.
Retaining its traditional charm, the village has residences that are over a century old and serve as fine examples of folkloric architecture, whilst it also has many old and interesting churches such as the Panayia Evaggelistria.
Kathikas is one of the wine-making villages of the Pafos region which also has various taverns to enjoy a delicious meal. Natural trails, cycling tours as well as traditional gastronomic experience are widely offered!

Furthermore, do not miss the chance to visit the Akamas Avifauna and Flora Centre, which showcases the region's rich biodiversity and commitment to conservation.

The Greek freighter “Dimitrios II» (M/V Demetrios II) was manufactured in Germany and traveled under the flag of Honduras. While it was en-route to the port of Limassol, due to heavy winds blowing at the time, it was carried away by the waves and ran aground a few hundred meters from the coast of Chloraka in so-called “Furfuris” area. The ship was wedged into a slit in that particular reef, and it could hardly be detached. Despite the efforts made, at that time and the during the years followed, it turned impossible to be towed out.
Today, nearly 30 years later, the time and the saltiness of the sea caused wear and tear of the well-aged and damaged, sea-washed and breezy heavy metal hull of the ship, being oxidized day-by-day in the sea, and now it is a common enigma that one day, perhaps after years, everyone will wake up in Pafos and they won’t see it there as they have become accustomed to. ⛴🧐
