As promised we are bringing small report about how the Easter is celebrated in Czechia.
Easter is celebrated on the first weekend after the first spring full moon that follows the equinox, which is in March or April. Girls are usually decorating eggs and boys are making a whip from willow branches. They will use it later on Easter Monday going from door to door, singing the Easter songs while whipping the girls and woman, the girls should then reward them with painted eggs, some food and shots for the adult ones. The young willow branches help girls to stay young, healthy and beautiful. Eggs on the other hand symbolize the fertility.
These traditions mostly with pagan origines are slowly diseappearing from the cities and stay mostly in the villages.
What do you think? Would you like to come in CZ for Easter?
