Bohemian Brews Beer Tasting Tours

Who loves the brilliantly eccentric and eternally diverse family of farmhouse beers as much as us? We’re very excited to host for a guided tasting of their lovely saisons and an evening of good old fun on 23/1. From the northern Basque nook of Spain, they’ll share with us their as story and as we taste a little piece of their world.

With a nomadic beginning as many a brewery have, the name Meta edabeak reflects its environment and agrarian roots; meta in Basque means a pile of grass for farm animals to feed on during winter, which is something that has dissappeared from most farms today. And edabeak means concoction.

We’ll try 6 beers, all of which offer something different:
-Intixisu: saison with elderflower
-Hirukote: a stellar chestnut barrel aged grape ale
-Zooby Zooby: barrel aged farmhouse kölsch
-Basotik: sour ale with spruce buds & chestnut honey
-Sumendi Nagia: rye saison
-Berriz : grisette with black & red currents

The tasting is 23/1 at 19 and cost 490 czk a person.

We’re keeping it real and small- so please contact us about reserving a spot. Also be ready for some special music courtesy of the brewers. All peoples are welcome, and all questions too. You don’t have to be a beer nerd to appreciate these lovely beers in their fullest!

This degustation will be held in English, with Spanish dappled throughout, and we can help find the right words in Czech too. Everything is possible when fuelled by farmhouse magic.

Cheers to these chaps visiting from across the pond!

On this sunny afternoon, our beer tasting focused on beers designed to beat the heat. A cantaloupe gose at a easy peasy 3.5% abv and a session IPA zippy with grapefruit and cheeky bitterness hit the spot. These gents party enjoyed ‘s Severka, one of our favorite lagers always and forever.

Begin your Saturday with a breakfast of donuts paired with exceptional brews!

We do like a good beer buzz in the morning, and ideally with a healthy dose of sugar. So we’ve worked with 5 talented brewers and the one and only Donut Shop to create a guided degustation of hand crafted beers and donuts. We’ll taste 5 different beer styles: a mixed fermentation cherry sour, saison, sour raspberry NEIPA, pastry stout, and a rauchbier, alongside 5 different donuts. During the tasting, we’ll talk about how to taste beer, each beer style and the brewer, and explain why we’ve paired this beer with the selected donut. This tasting is also meant to be interactive, so we’re eager to hear how our guests enjoy each pairing and what other combos work.

Overall, expect to drink 5 x .1 liter servings of beer, and eat about 1.5 donuts. We’ll hold this tasting in English, but our handy language department will be ready to help with any questions in Czech. Seats are limited, and must be reserved in advance. Up we go to more of a bird's eye view of Vinohradsky Pivovar during our brewery tour. Brewing Czech lagers the old school way, meaning a decoction mash and open fermentation, is labor and energy intensive, but adds that full complex malty body we all love! ❤️

Here's something we like exploring during our Thursday Czech craft beer tastings at Lya Beer Café... Comparing and contrasting similar styles, like NEIPA and and hazy IPA, from the always stellar and breweries. Most of our guests agreed that the stylistic boundries are very close, but also noticed that the hop character of each was different. Cheers to improving our beer vocabulary!

Pasi and friends from Helsinki came over the weekend for a private Blind Beer Tasting, of 8 Czech craft brews. Of all the beers we tried, Stargazer and Hostomice were the favorite. For a dessert like finish, they ended with 's Resurrection. We're happy to host private tastings, or join our open group on Thursdays at 4!

This was the first of 8 beers in our Blind Beer Tasting today, 's Sour Passion, which our guests throughly enjoyed! Sourness and passion fruit interplay nicely with a fluffy mouthfeel. Perfect for the summer ahead, however we enjoy this one yet round!
