Jack and Sebastian, students in our Fall Connect program, will take over our profile this Friday and Saturday. They have some exclusive spots lined up that you haven’t seen yet! Stay tuned and follow along for a unique glimpse into their weekend escapades.

Jack is from Durham, North Carolina, and he is in his first year of Poole management. He came to Prague to learn about new cultures and travel while studying.

Sebastian is from Cary, North Carolina, and is currently enrolled in the exploratory studies program. A fun fact about him is that he attended his first-ever hockey game in Prague a couple of weeks ago. He chose to come to Prague because it allowed him to start at NC State in the fall, experience Europe for the first time, and immerse himself in new cultures.

Ryan Magee, a junior in Computer Engineering, completed an internship in Prague with the NC State European Center last summer. During his time at the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, he gained invaluable experience in science and research, particularly through his work with computed tomography. This opportunity has broadened his perspective and equipped him with skills that will be instrumental in his future career.

Last Friday, our students had the incredible opportunity to visit the Ondřejov Observatory, a stunning center for astronomical research in the Czech Republic. Home to some of the most advanced telescopes in Central Europe, the observatory offered students a chance to explore the history of Czech astronomy and learn about the groundbreaking research being conducted there.

🫑🧅🥕🍅🥬 Our Food & Society class had an amazing time delving into the world of fermentation this week. From learning about the processes to understanding the benefits with Ing. Eliška Kováříková, from the Food Research Institute Prague. Our students got hands-on experience by testing various fermented vegetables and even making their own. The excitement is real as we eagerly await the results next week on Monday!

Prague is a fantastic city to live in, especially for students! According to the Campus Advisor, Prague ranked at the top of the list out of 50 European cities. We can only agree!

Prague received high safety, amenities, and public transport rankings. It was noted for its strong availability and accessibility of local shops, parks, museums, restaurants, and cafes compared to cities like Paris! Additionally, it scored well in the public transport category.

Aditi has joined the communication team this semester at the NC State European Center. She is the scholarship recipient of the Social Media Scholarship. She has been awarded the Social Media Scholarship. This scholarship is specifically for students in the Prague Connect program interested in enhancing their social media communication skills and working in an international setting. Despite a tough selection process, Aditi's standout credentials, including her prior experience managing school and club social media accounts and her innovative content ideas, secured her the scholarship. We are currently exploring various ways to engage not only students in Prague but others as well. Look out for exciting developments throughout the fall semester!

Last week, our students embarked on an unforgettable excursion to the UNESCO town of Český Krumlov in South Bohemia! From rafting down the Vltava River to exploring the enchanting castle and baroque theater, it was a weekend full of adventure and learning. Students had the chance to explore the town’s scenic streets, try some delicious Czech food for the first time, and immerse themselves in rich history with breathtaking views around every corner. semester

Hard to believe it’s already been a week since the start of our Fall semester! From exploring Prague to making new friends and learning Czech, it’s been an adventure. The First Day of Class is next week, but first, we’re off to Cesky Krumlov this weekend for an amazing excursion!

The fall orientation is in full swing, with Fall Classic students immersing themselves in Czech classes at our partner Charles University, while Prague Connect students dive into their first NC State class, the USC 100. Yesterday, we enjoyed a delightful dinner cruise on the Vltava River, basking in scenic views and even experiencing a refreshing summer shower. Despite the scorching heat, students are discovering Prague with their peers. The orientation will continue throughout the weekend, culminating in a 2-day excursion to the UNESCO town of Cesky Krumlov on Friday for all students!

On the night of August 20-21, 1968, the Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia began, marking the definitive end of the Prague Spring reforms. This is a key date in Czech and Slovak history.
