Touring Prague today was like: where are all the people? Monday was a lovely quiet day in the Castle & Wallenstein gardens.
So much space, and nobody around.
The Cathedral is all yours. You don't even have to order coffee or meal in the café. This is a public space, part of the Castle grounds. It's just perfectly hidden behind tiny, nearly invisible entrance 🤗

Sometimes you ask me how often I am guiding.
This varies throughout the year. But usually it´s 3 - 4 tours a week.
It may seem like a pretty easy work week. But honestly, guiding is physically and mentally very demanding profession.
And besides this, my joints and vocal chords also have certain limits 😁
So, 3 - 4 tours a week I found ideal for my work / life / health balance.

How to get from Prague airport? 3 easy ways.
1. TAXI
➡️Official taxi service at Prague airport is Uber.
➡️Download the Uber app before you come so that you can start using it right away at the airport.
➡️I also recommend that you register your card with the Uber account - then you will not need Czech cash for your way from the airport.
➡️If you don't have the app (or you don't want it or if it doesn´t work), you can still use Uber. In the arrival halls there are kiosks where you can easily book your ride and pay by card on the spot. This is the fastest way to get a car, the Uber airport cars are standing right in front of the terminals. This option is slightly more expensive but your car will be ready in a few minutes and the cars are new and nice. There are also very friendly Uber ground staff who will assist you.
➡️If you are familiar with the Uber app, simply book your car as you usually do. Either book the Uber cars that are standing right in front of the terminal (Uber Airport) or Uber saver, Uber XL, Uber Pet... whatever works best for you.
➡️An Uber ride from the airport to the city center will cost ca 450 - 800 CZK.
➡️If you don't want Uber, you can also use Bolt or Liftago apps.
2. AIRPORT EXPRESS - SHUTTLE BUS
➡️From the airport you can also use a direct shuttle bus called Airport Express going to the city center (Main Train Station) - this service runs every 30 minutes and costs 100 CZK / ride.
➡️It's a direct connection, no stops along the way.
➡️ In operation between 5:30 AM – 9 PM. In the opposite direction (city center to the airport) between 5:30 AM – 10 PM.
➡️Tickets are available on a bus.
3. PUBLIC TRANSPORT
➡️From the airport you can also use a regular public transport, it will only cost you 40 CZK / pp (90-minute ticket). Buy it in the arrival hall or at the bus stop (yellow machine).
➡️At Terminal 1 or 2, hop on a bus number 59 and go to its last stop called “Nádraží Veleslavín” where you change for the green metro line. The green line (in a direction to Depo Hostivař) will take you directly downtown (Muzeum, Můstek, Staroměstská, Malostranská are the most centrally located stops).

🟡 What to take on the tour with me?🟡
👟Good walking shoes, it's also practical to use impregnation on them (flips-flops, flat shoes, high heels - not recommended, there are cobblestones everywhere).
🌡 I know you want to look good in the pictures, but please get dressed properly, according to elements and weather forecast, you may feel cold after some time.
🚻 Coins for using public toilets: 10 - 30 CZK pe use. The toilet ladies are strict here, they want their money 😁 (it can be CZK or Euro).
🍌A little snack, please don't underestimate this, after two hours you will be hungry (trust me).
💧Bottled water (tap water in Prague is safe and during the high season there are many public drinking fountains in the streets where you can make a refill).

There are not many churches in Prague where you can also visit the upper gallery (balcony). And it seems like not so many people know about the chance to go up there even when they find one....

Head of Václav Havel (our first post communist president), made of his personal belongings and various object related to his life.

- keys, symbol of the Velvet Revolution in 1989
- typewriters (reference to his original profession)
- beer keg and bottle openers (during the communism he worked in a brewery as he wasn't allowed to work in his field - playwright, author, stagehand...).

NEW ENTRANCE FEES TO PRAGUE CASTLE INTERIORS 👑
Starting from March 2024, there will be a new entrance fee for the interiors of Prague Castle.
👉New entrance fee: 450 CZK / adult.
👉With this 450 CZK ticket you can enter St. Vitus Cathedral, Old Royal Palace, St. George Basilica and Golden Lane.
👉 All the outdoor parts (where I am guiding my tours) are still open for free: courtyards, gardens, Deer moat...so this change will not affect our tours 😀
👉 Where to buy the tickets? Either on the 2nd or 3rd courtyard of Prague Castle.

Dear clients, thank you very much for reaching out in regard to yesterday's shooting in Prague. I am not sure if I replied to all the messages but I hope I did ❤️ Thank you so much for your kind support, I am ok but totally shocked.
And the picture? Today I spent a quiet afternoon away from the news, city center, hustle, buzzing repeating thoughts... I went to pick up the "peace light of Bethlehem" delivered to Europe as far as from Bethlehem. By scouts. It´s a Christmas tradition to spread and share the light. Symbol of peace, hope, togetherness and love. So much needed elements right now. I brough it home.
I just wanted to share with you few things:
▪️Saturday December 23 has been declared a day of national mourning
▪️the attack didn´t have any terrorist, political or religious background
▪️the lone gunman was Czech, student of Charles University and he took his life with his gun
▪️we are going through totally new situation as such terrible event has never happened before, this is something we only know from TV
▪️Czech police / SWAT teams / emergency units did an excellent job
▪️ There is a great solidarity and compassion among Czechs, I am proud!
▪️Prague stays safe and laid back travel destination for all visitors, this is totally rare incident

Please stay safe, healthy and cherish your loved ones. It´s a tragedy and I can´t stop thinking of the families of the victims. Before Christmas...and I am sorry for the light smile in the picture. I wasn´t sure if this is appropriate. But this little quiet trip and nice people around simply helped me to make the day a bit brighter.

WHERE TO EXCHANGE MONEY DOWNTOWN? 🤷♀️🙆♂️
👍Most people and locals like the exchange office on Kaprova street called EXCHANGE CZ. No commission, fair exchange rates! Address: Kaprova 14/13 Prague 1 (corner house). Conveniently located 1 minute away from the Old Town Square.
👍Couple days back I tried a new exchange office which is located conveniently by the main entrance to Palladium shopping mall. Right by the main entrance, there is a small exchange office.
👍The location is very convenient, only 10 minutes from the Old Town Square.
👍They offered me 24 CZK for 1 euro which is ok.
😏My personal impression from the place wasn´t ideal but that´s just my subjective experience. I generally don´t like places where they have a scam Euronet ATM right in the place. I would also expect a receipt and prefer clerks who don´t chew a toothpick while talking to me :-)
👍But I got the money and everything went fast. So I believe this might be a good alternative if you need Czech Crowns and you are in this location :-)

Foucault pendulum at Faculty of Science proving a rotation of the Earth. Installed in 2014 as a student project. The faculty still keep it there. 👍👍 It´s hanging from the 6th floor and anybody can come to see it.
Good news from Prague ❄️❄️❄️ It started to snow on Friday night 💙
💧💙 Is tap water safe in Prague? Yes! 100% safe. - 💧I highly recommend traveling with your own reusable water bottle (thermo flasks are best) and making refils whenever you can. - 💧Feel free to hydrate yourself also in Prague streets. During spring, summer and autumn, there are many drinking fountains with cold tap water. Since it´s sooooo extremely hot in Prague I just decided to offer my clients earlier start of all my tours. From 8am. So far this applies until FRIDAY AUGUST 3.
Look at this quirky place. It´s a great abandoned palace right next to Charles bridge. Colloredo-Mansfeld palace is waiting for a renovation, however still open to public. And you know what? During working days you will be there alone; while hordes of tourist are passing this building on their way to the bridge. And here? Just you, creaky wooden floor and a nice custodian granny. Fantastic unknown spot where entrance fee is just 1 CZK (which means that for 1 Euro you can go there 26 times :-) #tranquility #hidden #gem
This is my tip how to avoid crowds and enjoy epic views of Prague: climb up to Lesser Town Bridge Tower. You may happen to be there all alone. Just like me today. It was a crisp clear day, just perfect.
