Wallenstein Garden was built together with the Palace for a supreme commander of the Imperial Army who fought on the Catholic side during Thirty Years' War (1618-1648). It was built on the spot of 23 houses, three gardens and one factory. Wallenstein traveled the Europe and employed Italian artists to built the garden. He was accused of being a betrayer and assassinated. His property was confiscated. tours

Kutna Hora, one hour away from Prague, is a former silver mining town. Did you know that 55 kilos / 120 pounds of silver was mined every day between 1290 and 1350? It was one third of European silver production at that time.

Loreto in Kosmonosy is considered one of the most beautiful Loreto complexes behind the Alps. Santa Casa (Holy House) is inspired by Italian Marian shrine in Italy (town Loreto, pic 3) which according to the legends was flown over by angels from Nazareth. The Blessed Virgin Mary is believed to have lived in. There are several Loretos in the Czech Republic, besides the one in Kosmonosy, there is very famous one in Prague (pic 2).

Ostrov, 15 minutes away from a famous spa town Karlovy Vary (also known for the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival) has a rich and complex history. There is a Piarist monastery complex with three beautiful chapels. In 1953, during the Communist regime, it became a property of the Czechoslovak Army and occupied by soldiers. Whole complex was devastated, all furnishings destroyed or stolen. It was totally restored in 2001-2007. Besides the monastery there is a chateau with an extensive park and summer house. The town has a historical square and town hall.

Every year I travel to the International Film Festival Karlovy Vary and this year for the first time I decided to stay in a nearby small historical town Loket / Elbogen (in German language). Besides a picturesque town there is a monumental castle built on the rock above the river. It's the place where little three year old Prince, later Emperor and King Charles IV spent in 1319 two months in prison during upheavals against his father John Luxembourg.

A private tour of Florence with Alessia was a lifetime experience. 🙂 I’ve met Alessia on-line during Covid lockdowns when we provided streamed tours for one US company. ☀️It was so nice to meet her in person and be guided by someone with such deep knowledge of art perfectly summed up in context with political history plus very useful tips where to eat.☀️ So, if you consider a trip to Florence, I can highly recommend you to book Alessia. 🙂
