Fort Tolukko.
A fort on the East coast of Ternate built by the colonials in order to protect and control the spice trade routes.
It was occupied by the Portuguese, the Dutch, the British & Spanish and abandoned in 1865.
The ph***ic shape of the fort is an outcome of the topography.

A year ago today I gave my last ever tour at the Pergamonmuseum in its current state.
Next time, if all goes according to plan, I will see the finds in the central and northern sections in 2027, but the Babylonian processional way and the Ishtar Gate will reopen only in 2037.
But that doesn't mean there is nothing to see. You can still join me for tours in the Altes Museum, Neues Museum, Pergamon Panorama Berlin and many other archaeological tours in and other cities.

In 1693, a ship leaving Manila full of goods bound for Acapulco was wrecked during a storm on the coast of what is now the state of Oregon in the United States. A craftsman from the Tillamook tribe created this Neolithic-style arrowhead from porcelain from China's Qing Dynasty.

For over 20 years I have been practising archaeology, whether it is field work or lecturing or guiding tours. through all these years and various positions, I was always a firm believer that , and knowledge in general should be available to the public.
What is the point of excavating an archaeological site if the public cannot read about the finds or visit them?
Therefore, I have sat with myself and rethought my whole tours pricing scheme and have reached the conclusion that my tours were too pricey, and as such, were not available to all who might have wanted to take part in them.
So, I have reduced the prices of all my tours drastically, in an effort to make them more accessible to whoever wants to experience the amazing past of humankind. 🏺 🏛 🏳️‍⚧️

In commemoration of some different facts.

The area of Normandy is saturated with at least 2000 years of history and archaeology.

The area is called Normandy because it was given to the Vikings, the people of the north, the Normans, so that they would have an area to live in and they would stop looting the people of the Frankish Empire, this was signed in a treaty between the first ruler of Normandy, Rollo and the French King, Charles III.

* Part of the Bayeux Tapestry which depicts the events of the Norman Conquest of Britain.
