Thanks, perhaps, to Tom Cruise, most of us know who Stauffenberg was, but Julius Leber? And for whom should we -- and in particular the German military -- be naming stuff?

Dear All,

We hope everyone stays safe in these difficult times in which we have to stick together. Our health and solidarity come before anything else.

In order to help "flatten the curve", we are doing our best to practice social distancing and to encourage others to do the same.

Once we have overcome this pandemic and it is safe to do so, we would love to show you Berlin.

In the meantime, we will keep you posted with our blog posts.

Stay safe and healthy,

Torben and Carlos

With the season winding down, we again have a little time to devote to our blog. Halloween has passed, but Berlin's cemeteries remain... I was about to write "alive," but that's not quite right. At any rate, there are lots of dead people in Berlin, some of them quite famous!

No, this is not the Eiffel Tower in Paris; it's the one at the Centre Français de Berlin (CFB)! Owing to being one of four powers to occupy Berlin after the end of the war (the others were the USA, UK and USSR), the French Military Command established the Centre Culturel Français in 1961. After German Reunification, the property passed into the hands of the German Ministry of Finance; however, the governments of Germany and France agreed that it should once more be home to a cultural centre, which was re-opened under its current name in 1994. Come check out the CFB in the neighborhood of Wedding, or find out more about this area on our "Kiez Berlin" tour!
