🌟 Drawing with objects is a calming and deeply grounding practice 🌟

When I draw around objects, I find a connection with the extraordinary in the ordinary. It’s a slow, meditative process that begins with simply holding the object, eyes closed, letting my fingers explore every surface, every curve. Then, I place it on the paper and create patterns that weave around and through its shapes, allowing my creativity to flow freely.

Here are the shapes starting to emerge inspired by the pencil sharpener in my journal ✨

So happy to have booked camping again at the utterly delightful camping spot Camping am Oberuckersee. Over the years the call of the water, journalling upon waking sitting on the jetty letting my feet splash and my mind wander and wonder by the expanse of the lake. An incredible sense of aliveness. 🤩🌞
I’ll be sharing more about my art and mindfulness journalling practices, tips tricks and ideas in my upcoming Introduction to Art Journalling Workshop on 29.7 / 4.8. - see link in Bio. A feast of joy, release and easeful reconnection back to what matters. Love you to join me in a small group, for lots of support for what you need.
Beginners welcome 🤗

Growing a Family Art Journalling habit is a great way to build trust and intimacy with your child, noticing their way of looking at the world, all whilst having an inspiring time in the comfort of your own home!

Let’s PLAY & UNWIND together through the transformative power of mindful creativity! Family downtime through art making offers us a forging of connections in new ways, making memories together round the kitchen table, back with our messy making hands. Deepen bonds through a workshop exploring fun ways to communicate visually, in a sketchbook you can carry around with you >> 🌱

Join our Family Art Journalling Workshop Session THIS SATURDAY afternoon 15:30- 17:00 CET on Zoom / Thursday 1st August 16:00-17:30, and get playful tips and ideas to takeaway and fill your lives with more COLOUR and CONNECTION, ideal to inspire your family with easy to do creative activities, as we head into the long summer holidays 🌈 🥰

This workshop is ideal for you if you are interested in gentle, mindful parenting and relationship styles, looking for new ways to discover and experiment both independently and collaboratively.
We use art processes to express thoughts, dreams, experiences, memories in a creative constructive way.

A Sketchbook / Journalling habit is a lovely habit to nurture over time for both relaxation and self- expression. To help focus special family time away from devices after the session, you will also takeaway some downloadable prompts. 🌈✨ Taking a 5-Minute Creative Pause with Physical Doodling! ✨🌈

As a creative educator and coach, I've always believed in the power of art to bring calm and relaxation, and also to spark a little joy! My daughter was clearing out and offered me these colourful page markers, and I couldn't resist trying something new.

Instead of just pen and paper, I decided to playfully doodle with these page markers. It's not about creating a masterpiece; it's about taking a moment for yourself, letting your creativity flow, and having some soothing, fun time. Playing with laying lines and making shapes.

In the accompanying photos, you can see the play space. Now, I'm faced with a delightful dilemma – should I keep it as an open exploratory space for the next time I take a break, or glue them down for another day? Maybe I could draw over and around them….💫🤔

You don't need fancy art materials for this. You can try it with different coloured and textured paper, even by raiding the recycling bin. It's all about embracing the creative possibilities around you 🥰

🌱 3 moments in your week that doodling can help to calm your mind 🥰

1- When you take a coffee or tea break, 2- In waiting for an appointment or on the train, 3- To help end of day transitions to detach from working from home, starting a ‘signing off for the day’ habit, playing with the possibilities.

Let’s get doodling! Scroll for the Bubbles prompt for you to try from the HUB of the Creative Pause Club, to bring a creative calm pause into your day today ✨

Love you to give it a go and see how it feels. Let me know in the comments or let’s chat on DM 😍

One way I journal : This week was my birthday, and in my journaling today, I played with the patterns from a birthday cake candle and holder 🎂🥳 I started with just holding the candle, noticing its shapes and lines, and doodling the length and diagonals I saw on it, the wick and then repeating this topsy turvy across the page. Then bringing in the candle holder, its shape, coming out from the lower wicks. Shifting perspective on the holder, I looked at it from the top and it felt like I wanted to draw its sun like head and free write radiating out around it, twisting the book and releasing words as I wrote. Really enjoyed moving my pens, using a brush pen being able to let go of perfection focusing on the swishing and little more unpredictability of it, in the line width especially 💛

Enjoyed this early start to Saturday, time out to play and explore feeling ready for the tasks of reorganisation of my summer/winter clothing - something I don’t like doing at all but feeling that I have given myself a few minutes active rest first I’ll be more into folding clothes carefully rather than stuffing them into bags as I’ve done in past years 🤪😆🥰

Are you signed up for Monday night’s FREE ‘Pause & Doodle Play’ workshop? Link in Bio. Come and feel the power in the active pause with ‘hands on’ squiggly and scribbly ideas and feel the meditative experience of presence in the ordinary everyday made extraordinary. Art of aliveness, rejuvenating compass, how my journal helps me move through fears and vulnerable moments in my journey with being more visible in my marketing… 💫

This week I wrote out how I was feeling about my creative mindfulness work in my journal, to help me in putting my workshop online. To keep me reconnecting with why I do this doodling meditative practice, keeping me buoyant, playful and open in this process. 🌱

And the brilliant inspiring me along the way, giving me this quote.

“We’re capable of creating work that matters only if we’re willing to be uncomfortable while we do it…fierce means living with the simultaneous certainty that this is vitally important and this might not work."--Seth Godin, What To Do When it’s Your Turn.

How does journaling help you? Love to hear from you.

If you are perhaps feeling overwhelmed, stuck in your head about a challenge you are currently facing at home or at work…

Getting out of your busy mind and listening to your heart ❤️, to solve your life challenges. Bring calm and focus on your scribbled pictures to find fresh ideas and bring new creative solutions to old problems.

Join me to learn intuitive, creative ways to problem solve....in this Create Your Path workshop together we create your route, to be looking at things a little differently, allowing the surprising, the tangential, the 'what ifs' to have space.

This is a process I have been using for a few years to help get myself and clients out of overwhelm and stop overthinking, externalising a problem and forging the path ahead. All with a dose of creative visualisation and tender conversation thrown in.

This guided and self-coaching approach, that blends mindfulness, intuitive creativity coaching and my own arts based methods with a group, is back here again, Monday 19th June, 19:30 CET.

How do you begin the week feeling calm?
Start with a single, intentional dot....

If you are struggling to feel grounded and ready for a busy Monday….this is a 3 minute process taken from my session with my 9am client today, timed before she had a meeting she was really not looking forward to. Just with paper and a fineliner pen.

Set the timer for 3 minutes. Moving your pen slowly, intentionally lifting it up, letting it land with a gentle pressure and removing it again. Tuning into the anchor between the tip and the page where the mark was left. Repeating slowly, tuning this time into the sound of the pen arriving onto the page. Starting to notice your breathing, perhaps in rhythm with the tap of the pen. Gently finding a flowful way to keep moving bringing attention back to this moment, out of your head into the inky dots clustering, connecting or freely emerging into their own direction. Not striving just letting it happen.

If you try this love to hear how you get on.

Creative Mindfulness is a journey. A path to recover your sense of the here and now, let yourself be free of the pressure to perform and play a little outside the box.

Tear a wonky line, watch colours drip and ooze slowly, draw dots without knowing where they will end. Words become pictures. Pictures become words. Over and over, releasing, relaxing.

And from accessing that lighter, calmer place we can be open to reconnect with what’s really important, and discover and nurture what we truly want to change.

How do you let go of the busy working day?

I recently did research calls with ambitious people who are feeling totally overwhelmed, stuck on a hamster wheel. The consistent thing that came out again and again...they didn't know how to really close the working day, to decompress. To transition out of busy work mode to calmer being present at home, especially where they work from home. Feeling stuck trying one thing and not sticking with it, not really being able to fit that thing into noticeably marking out that space between -of working and of not working.

What I have found helps my clients feel lighter and more relaxed is using my creative micro-breaks journaling toolkit, that I have developed through working with teams and individuals over the years.

For example, setting the timer for 5 minutes, and free writing one way across the blank page, stream of conscious, not judging just letting it out as it appears in their mind. And when they get to a full page, turn the page 90 degrees and free write and fill the page again. Words overlapping, releasing out onto the page. There are many other possibilities, such as they also use this upon waking, or even between meetings, of different lengths of time, or further adding a colourful, slow line going for a walk over the top. A variant on morning pages, if you like.

Perhaps you already use free writing for your wellbeing, or if you give this a go, love to hear how you get on.

cheerio for now :-)
