"I discovered my knack for programming at the age of 8, all thanks to a programming book my mom snagged from her school. This early passion led me to study Computer Science in the beautiful city of Bonn.

Post-graduation, I started my career as a Java engineer for the state government in Düsseldorf. The adventure kicked up a notch in 2013 when a friend connected me to a fledgling mobile app development agency in need of their very first Android engineer. I seized the opportunity and dove headfirst into the bustling world of app engineering. We collaborated with renowned clients, including German football clubs and energy providers, and most notably, trivago!

The work with trivago went so well that they acquired our agency, making us their in-house app team. Starting as a junior Android engineer, I have progressively developed my skills and expertise, ultimately rising to lead our App Engineering team.

At trivago, I work with top-tier iOS and Android teams, constantly discovering new insights every day. From modest local government work to the vast, international landscape at trivago, the journey has been nothing short of exhilarating."

"Starting my career at trivago in 2016 as a Technical Account Manager was an exciting journey. It allowed me to explore the intersection of technology and advertiser relations. I managed global and regional advertisers, ensuring their seamless integration with the trivago platform and optimizing it further. I had the opportunity to deliver on several fascinating projects, many of which held strategic significance. Taking these projects from conception to successful delivery fostered a deep sense of achievement and strengthened my dedication to delivering exceptional value.

trivago creates an environment that encourages talents to explore different roles within the organization. In 2020, I embraced this opportunity and transitioned into the position of a Product Manager. In this role, I manage a diverse portfolio of internal technical integrations, balancing competing priorities while focusing on stakeholder value. This experience has been transformative, broadening my perspective and allowing me to advocate for innovative solutions that align technical capabilities with user needs. I'm immensely grateful for trivago's commitment to employee development, which includes mentorship programs, fully sponsored workshops, the freedom to experiment, and comprehensive feedback system.

I am now part of the AI Ambassador group, acting as a lighthouse in the organization to guide exploration into AI solutions. My focus is on addressing complex problems using generative AI, machine learning, and other technologies. Reflecting on my journey, I find this phase of my career incredibly exciting. Here's to embracing change, fostering innovation, and continually evolving on this journey with trivago."

Each month, over 120 million users rely on trivago to find their perfect hotel. To meet this demand, our teams use A/B testing to unlock features that enhance the user experience 🚀

In this video, Data Analytics Lead Jan Hiller breaks down our approach to A/B testing:

💡 Ideas for product tests are prioritized based on impact and feasibility, aligning with our product goals. This ensures that meaningful improvements lead the way.

🎯 With each test, we set clear goals and hypotheses, choosing KPIs to measure significant improvements in feature usage and adoption. Through accurate logging, we capture every user interaction to draw insightful conclusions.

⌛ The duration of our A/B tests varies. Some results appear quickly, while others need weeks. Each test is unique and is influenced by the feature, platform, and device type.

🔧 Our internally-developed Release Controller tool monitors the performance of our A/B tests, offering full control and flexibility.

🤝 From product managers and engineers to designers and QA, it's a team effort, guided by insights from our analytics team.

"I started my journey at trivago four years ago as a Backend Engineer, moving from India to Germany right when COVID-19 pandemic was at its peak. Everything was in lockdown at the time, but the thought of moving to a whole new country was very exciting and felt like a breath of fresh air.

As part of the Search and Ranking team, I dove into a world of cutting-edge technology to solve complex challenges. What fascinated me most was seeing how data could transform into real improvements for our users. This data-driven approach has been key to refining our processes and improving user experience. I've grown so much professionally over these past few years, but you know what? I'm still learning something new every single day.

trivago is an awesome mix of talented people from all over the world. It's been so much fun working with engineers and other professionals from different cultures, learning about their traditions, and joining in our company-wide cultural celebrations.
