We understand human nature as the integrated connection of human behavior and the environment. On this basis we create signs, products and experiences so self-evident as if they’ve always been there.

We’re excited to introduce three amazing talents joining us:

🚀 Amelie joins our Consulting team. Originally from Hamburg, she’s been inspired by her time in Copenhagen and loves collaborating with creative minds.

📚 Fabian is our new working student, supporting the Consulting team while working on his master’s thesis in Innovation Management, focusing on ambiguity tolerance.

🔥 Nick starts as a Business Designer + Strategist, optimizing processes and integrating business design with our human-centered approach. Plus, he’s a voluntary firefighter, so we’re covered in case of emergencies!

We’re thrilled to have you all on board and can’t wait to see the fresh ideas you bring!

The EU’s proposed Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) could establish pioneering standards for sustainable practices, from packaging design to waste management. Why wait for the EU? Become a packaging hero today and set new standards. Sustainable design is aesthetic, functional, effective, and inspiring. At dfhn, we’ve championed good design for 30 years, eliminating excess and reducing complexity – from innovative packaging design to brand identity. Regardless of the PPWR, together we’re already crafting brand-appropriate solutions for a responsible packaging world.

Thrilled to have Madeleine, a communication designer from Augsburg, join our team in Hamburg! She made the move from Bavaria to bring her unique design flair to our design and strategy lab. With a background in a small Augsburg agency, her most recent project was an impressive exhibition design.
Having already fallen for Hamburg during her studies, Madeleine’s back for the city, dfhn, and kiting! She spent the past few months soaking up the sun and surf at a kitestation in Egypt before making her way back here. Now, she’s ready to infuse her creative spark into our projects.
Welcome aboard, Madeleine!

While we are celebrating our 30th anniversary this year, there is one team member who has been with us almost from the beginning: Roland had his 20th anniversary at the beginning of April!
Congratulations Roland, we are very happy that you are with us and we don’t know what it would be like without you - thank you for all your ideas, your problem solving skills, your expertise and your knowledge!

The first German Creative Economy Summit in Hamburg was a fantastic experience! We engaged in inspiring discussions and opened our own discussion on “Innovations Need Feelings: Discover the Four Basic Principles of Design Feeling 💓.” Through projects like the “Fish Box,” we demonstrated how to integrate emotions into design. Our philosophy of embracing positive emotions is crucial for sustainable innovations. By sharing stories and images, we transfer enthusiasm and create new behavioral patterns. We look forward to the next summit! Many thanks to the organizers .hamburg!

Currently, we are actively sending out our friendly reminder to simply “feel” more: more empathy, more love, more happiness…🩷
If you would like to have your own poster briefly tell us why you believe feelings are so important, and we will send you one for free.
Let’s start this year with a good feeling from the very beginning! ✨

Say hello to Hélène!

Growing up in Warstein in Westphalia, Hélène started her studies driven by her passion for crafting new things and finding innovative solutions to everyday problems. She recently completed her master’s studies with a focus on accessible and human-centered design. Seeking a studio that shares her values, she chose to join dfhn for our hands-on approach, which emphasizes physical prototyping and model-making.
As a volunteer for the Association of German Industrial Designers (VDID), Hélène enjoys organizing events for design students and young professionals. Outside of work, she finds fulfillment in gardening, powerlifting and exploring nature and museums.

Please extend a warm welcome to Hélène, our new 3D design intern. Exciting times are ahead! 🚀

Hello 2024 & happy 30th birthday to us! 🎉 This year has a special meaning for us, because: We are celebrating three decades of design for human nature!
As a Design Studio & Strategy Lab in Hamburg, we have been designing brands, products, signs and spaces that integrate seamlessly into life since 1994.
But 30 is just the beginning!

We don’t just want to celebrate our anniversary; we want to dive deeper into the discourse on sustainable design and the power of positive emotions together with you.

LET’S FEEL FORWARD TOGETHER!

Our observant and empathic workshops often build the base to work on new challenges. We use them to deeply understand a topic, brainstorm first ideas or just play around with different stimuli. In the end our aim is the experience instead of the final result 💡🙇⠀

„Every beer needs that homespun touch.” That would appear to be the central theme of German beer advertising. That‘s why most breweries try so hard to imbue their brands with robust local character. It’s got to be premium, loud and expensive: shiny gold foil and TV ads featuring national heroes. At the eye of this marketing typhoon, a new beer has emerged: 5,0 Original. It has all the promise of a genuine quality beer – understatement and sincerity. It is five degrees of alcohol at an honest price. Because it sticks to the essentials, 5,0 finds its niche where every true German beer belongs: in calmness and strength. And when our work is done we smile inwardly and remind ourselves that ‘beer is good’.⁣⠀

Appreciation and trust is what children experience in the Arche - regardless of their social background. They can play, tinker around, make new friends and simply feel safe. That's what we want to support.
At the Arche’s summer party we printed colorful bags together with the kids.
That are the kind of things we love to do. Being close to the people, curious and enthusiastic. @ Hamburg, Germany
