Took a quick day trip to Strasbourg yesterday. One thing is for sure, a city with both French and German influences has the most beautiful architecture and the BEST food. It was so cool to see a Parisian building next to an old German home. So pretty! We did the self guided Tasty Tour, it was 10€ and we got food/drink samples at 7 different locations around the city. It was a great way to try different things while exploring the city.

went to Ladenburg for our excursion this week! Here’s a photo of us in front of Carl Benz‘s garage- home of the first ”horseless carriage“, which has evolved into the Mercedes Benz. Carl’s wife, Bertha, was the first person to operate the car. Yep, the first car driver ever was a woman!

enjoyed our excursion to Frankfurt today! First we took a walking tour of the city, ate at Chipotle for lunch😂, and then went to the Geld Museum (money museum)! It was really cool to see how traditional and modern living really comes together in this city.

Sarah, from The College of New Jersey

”My favorite thing about studying abroad is that I get to immerse myself in a new culture every weekend. From Sicily to Paris, and Brussels to different cities all over Germany, I get to experience all the different ways people interact with each other! And of course, Heidelberg is the perfect home to come back to every time ❤“

Drake, from Kansas

”I chose to study abroad for a number of reasons. One is that I have always wanted to experience another culture and see how people in other parts of the world live. Another is that where I am, in Heidelberg, Germany, it is very easy to travel to most places in Europe, and I had heard that Heidelberg has a reputation for having a high standard for life, which is very true. Having friends who live in Wiesloch, a nearby town, is very helpful too so I have at least a few locals I can talk to and spend time with who I know. Most of all though, I was wanting to meet other people who shared a similar interest to me, which is to see the world and grow in the same way as me.“

This is a photo of Drake from when he attended a Bayern München football (soccer) game!

ESC Directors Uli and Harald Leibrecht at Başkent University in Ankara, Turkey
European Study Center Chairman of the Board Harald Leibrecht and Director Ulrike Leibrecht received a magnificent welcome by the President and team of Başkent University in Ankara, Turkey.

The President, Dr. Mehmet Haberal and Rector Prof. Ali Haberal accompanied the Leibrechts on their tour of Başkent University Ankara Hospital. They visited the Oncology Center and Polyclinics building, which opened in December and is equipped with the latest technology. They were most impressed with the units, including the Burn Center, the transplantation center, and multiple laboratories. After the evening banquet dinner, they were presented with gifts and celebrated the formal signing ceremony to solidify the official cooperation agreement between the Europen Study Center and Başkent University.

The university was founded in 1993 for quality education and has opened its doors to a successful future for its students by making many international collaborations, such as the newest one with the European Study Center. The ESC looks forward to welcoming students from Başkent University to its campuses in France and Germany.

We had Taco Tuesday at the ESC last night! It’s hard to find a good night for EVERYONE to get together for dinner, but we found a way and enjoyed each other‘s company! We have decided that Taco Tuesday will be a weekly tradition (but hopefully some of the boys can do the cooking next time 😉)! Until next taco tuesday 🌮🌮🤩

It’s been a week since I traveled to Paris and I am already missing it! Can’t wait to go back, and do something amazing. Independent travel is an important apart of studying abroad because it gives you the personal time that you need, especially when you spend a lot of your days with other students.

Enjoy some pictures from my trip!

We’re getting close to the end of the semester. Classes are starting to get tough, students are starting to sniffle, and temperatures are definitely dropping. The sky is looking wonderful, though. Nothing better than a beautifully painted sky! 🌌

We’re counting down the hours ‘til Halloween!

It’s one of my favorite holidays! I’m very excited to see how Germans celebrate Halloween 🎃. I plan on visiting the Zoo, going for a walk, and hopefully running into some trick or treaters, I’d love to see their costumes! I took this fantastic photo during our trip to Berlin. I had some free time, and i spent most of the time alone, sight seeing at my own pace. That’s one of my favorite luxuries of studying abroad, I can do things on my own and see what I !

What do you plan on doing this year, for Halloween!?
💛🎃🌑👻

Hello,

Here's a quick update on this semester's encounters, so far...

We've gone wine and beer tasting, we've visited many cities around Germany, and we've gotten closer together as a small ESC family. As far as learning goes, everyone has learned more about themselves and so much more.

For myself, I have learned more money and time management, healthier food and exercise habits, myself, and the culture.

Please, enjoy past posts filled with photos and videos about our most recent adventures, and some of my own personal ones. Tune in for more, as our journey continues.

Don’t forget to follow us on Instagram!

Good morning, from Heidelberg!

Today, I’m looking forward to going to the botanical gardens and sitting by the river for a bit... Hopefully, I can find more street art and natural beauties to add to my photo collection! Heidelberg is full of so many exciting murals and the surrounding nature is gorgeous 😍. There’s so much to see, and not enough time!
