On every Islandhopping tour, there are wonderful crossings from one island to the next. The world turns much more slowly than in the hectic pace of everyday life at home. You can relax, sunbathe, enjoy a glass of wine, read a good book or play a card or board game with frirends, as you used to in the old days. Simply beautiful!

In the small town of Franeker in the Netherlands, the most unusual planetarium in the world is hidden in a ordinary house! In the 18th century, the humbke wool comber Eise Eisinga installed a scale model of our solar system on the ceiling of his living room. An ingenious mechanism ensures that the planets rotate around the sun in real time and accurately down to the minute, which is why the Eisinga Planetarium has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2023.

For us, December ist one of the most beautiful months of the year. In many countries around the world, the anticipation of Christmas grows every day. The traditions surrounding this beautiful festival are as varied as the countries themselves.
One tradition that fits perfectly to Islandhopping is the KARAVAKI in Greece: a ship festively decorated with beautiful lights. Seafaring has been in the Greek blood since ancient times and the shipping industry is still one of the country's biggest employers today. In winter, the sailors come to rest and return to their families from their voyages. In gratitude for their safe return, they decorate their homes, public places and ships. How do you like this tradition? And how do you decorate your home for Christmas?

New territory!
Our guides Chrysa and Catharina visited the island of Euboea last week to seek out the best bike tour possible on this island for our new Mamma Mia Plus Tour. The north of Euboea turned out to be the perfect addition to this trip to the Sporades Islands and the Pelion Peninsula.
The second largest island in Greece inspired them both: authentic, scenic diversity with rivers and waterfalls, beautiful flora, great beaches, picture perfect harbor towns and traditional mountain villages, as well as a well-developed road network. Euboea simply has all the attributes for a perfect Islandhopping day!

The Dalmatian island of Hvar has become famous beyond Croatia's borders for its extremely clever marketing.
The island advertises the fact that visitors can stay in the hotels for free if it snows on the island - with a very calculable risk for the hoteliers: it (almost) never snows on the island!

Would you like to go on an Islandhopping tour, but prefer to bike individually at your own pace?
Starting in 2025, this is possible on our tours in Istria, the Kvarner Bay and the Ionian Islands! On these selected tours, you have the choice of joining your guides or riding independently. For the latter option, we will give you access to the RideWithGPS route app for your smartphone, a detailed bike map and GPS tracks to help you find your way. And if you need help along the way in the event of a breakdown? No worries! Your guides will be riding the same route with your fellow travelers as a guided variant and will therefore always be close by.

Island hopping in deluxe format will soon be available on the legendary Turkish coast: the Milo M, which will offer our riders a floating home from 2025, is a motor yacht in gleaming white that can accommodate up to 20 passengers. The ship is furnished with great attention to detail and has spacious guest cabins and a saloon clad in fine wood with a well-stocked bar where you can stock up on hot and cold drinks at any time. The delicious meals prepared by the chef are served on the shaded aft deck. On the upper deck, you will find a cozy sunbathing area with sun mats and comfortable upholstered seating. The Milo M is also ahead of the game when it comes to sustainability: a special feature of the ship are the solar panels, which allow the ship to run primarily on solar energy!

Sweet & Salty on one wave!
The Teams from Boat Bike Tours and Islandhopping met in Amsterdam last week to look back on their first season together after the merger of the two companies and to make plans for everything to come. There was an intense team building, a lively exchange, a joint look back, development of future visions and the recording of a podcast with some guides.
The teams grew even closer together! There was lots of laughter, cycling, a channel cruise and a deserved celebration of a successful 2024!🥂
