Leopards are the least social - and perhaps the most beautiful - of the African big cats. 🌟
Leopards are highly adaptable creatures, capable of living in semi-desert conditions as well as dense subtropical bush. Their territories can also vary in size from 10 square kilometres, to several hundred square kilometres.

A male leopard will defend his territory against other males, but will share territory with females.

The Hildana Lodge lies in the heart of the Tsavo elephant corridor which links Lake Jipe in Tsavo West with the Galana River in Tsavo East. That said, elephants are the highlight of a stay at Hildana making it perfect for those with a passion for these gentle giants. 🐘

The sanctuary is also home to less commonly seen wildlife such as endangered cheetahs and African wild dogs and many other species.

Rhinos are a significant part of Kenya's wildlife heritage, although their populations have faced severe challenges due to poaching and habitat loss. 🦏🌿
Kenya is home to both black rhinos (Diceros bicornis) and white rhinos (Ceratotherium simum). The black rhino is critically endangered, while the white rhino is classified as near threatened.
Conservation Areas: Rhinos are primarily found in protected areas such as national parks and reserves. Some of the key areas for rhino conservation in Kenya include:
🦏Maasai Mara National Reserve: Known for its wildlife diversity, including rhinos.
🦏Tsavo National Park: Both Tsavo East and Tsavo West are important habitats for rhinos.
🦏Lewa Wildlife Conservancy: A private reserve known for its successful rhino conservation efforts.

"The Maasai will host you and are seasoned mountain guides, they set up a camp near their home at Miton, ensuring that our stay was filled with unforgettable memories. ✨

We set off in the morning into the forest – greeted by the joyful call of the turacco, flapping their green and purple wings as they run up branches in the canopy. The colobus monkey barked – invisibly. Fresh buffalo dung and spoor led us deep into the forest. 🐘🐃🦒

We hoped and prayed to see the elephants, but they remained phantoms in the shadows but left their dung for us to wonder."
