Hi from Point Wild!

Point Wild is a location on the northeastern coast of Elephant Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. It is historically significant as the site where Sir Ernest Shackleton and his crew from the ill-fated Endurance expedition sought refuge in 1916. After their ship was crushed by ice in the Weddell Sea, the crew made a perilous journey in lifeboats to reach Elephant Island. They established a makeshift camp at Point Wild, where 22 men waited for over four months while Shackleton and a small team sailed to South Georgia to seek rescue.

The point is named after Frank Wild, Shackleton's second-in-command, who led the stranded men during their time on the island. Today, Point Wild is marked by a bust of Captain Luis Pardo, the Chilean naval officer who commanded the rescue ship *Yelcho* that ultimately saved the men. The site is a testament to human endurance and the spirit of Antarctic exploration.
