(Part 2) 🇩🇪 Germany is renowned for its rich brewing tradition, making German beer celebrated and appreciated worldwide for its exceptional quality and diversity. The main types of beer produced in Germany are:

🍺🌾 Helles – also known as Hell (bright, light, pale), is a traditional German lager beer, produced in Southern Germany. Helles-style beers typically are full-bodied, midly sweet and light-colored, with low bitterness.

🍺🐐 Bock – is a strong German beer, usually a dark lager. This style was first brewed in the town of Einbeck in Lower Saxony and was later adopted in Bavaria by Munich brewers, who pronounced “Einbeck” as “ein Bock” (a billy goat) and because of that, the beer became known as “Bock”, and that’s also why a goat often appears on bottle labels.

🍺💨 Rauchbier – also known as Smoked beer, is a type of beer with a distinctive smoke flavor imparted using malted barley dried over an open flame.

🍺🍇🥤 Berliner Weisse - this zesty, slightly tangy speciality dates back to the 16th century. It is served with raspberry or woodruff syrup and drunk through a straw.

🍻👩‍🍳 Craft Beer - Craft beer is brewed in small quantities and is based on recipes that are sometimes old but always special. Traditional brewing techniques are used, and the beers are generally produced in independent breweries. More than 90 percent of the 1,492 breweries in Germany are independent, giving rise to a huge diversity of beers.

(Part 1) 🇩🇪 Germany is renowned for its rich brewing tradition, making German beer celebrated and appreciated worldwide for its exceptional quality and diversity. The main types of beer produced in Germany are:

🍺🌿 Pilsner – also known as Pils, is a bottom-fermented beer named after the Bohemian city of Pilsen with a higher hop content and aroma. This style represents the majority of beers produced and sold in Germany.

🍺 Weissbier – translated White beer, is a type of beer made with a high proportion of wheat malt, which is usually brewed with top fermentation. It is seen as the most Bavarian of all beers, since many brewers produce wheat beers, but don’t make it as good and unique as the Bavarians.

🍺🍫 Dunkel – a word used for several types of Dark beer, typically range in color from amber to dark reddish brown. This beer style offers balanced flavors of chocolate, bread crust and caramel.

🍻🏙️ Kölsch & Altbier – The Rhineland has two beer specialities to offer: Kölsch from Cologne and Altbier (also known as Alt) from Düsseldorf. Only produced in Cologne, the Kölsch beer is a light, clear (filtered) and top-fermented full-bodied beer. It can only be produced in Cologne and the surrounding area. Drunk and brewed mainly in Düsseldorf, Alt beer is slightly malty with hardly any hops aroma, mostly dark, top-fermented, heavily and fully fermented.

🍻🍁 Märzen – also known as Oktoberfestbeer, is a lager that has its origins in Bavaria. It has a medium to full body and may vary in color from pale through amber to dark brown. This beer is traditionally brewed in March and served in autumn, for the annual festival of Oktoberfest.

A taste of tradition: The Art of winemaking in Germany ✨🍇

For centuries, wine production has been a fact of life in Germany. From the picturesque vineyards along the riverbanks to the historic cellars where every bottle tells a story.

German wine is mainly produced in western Germany, with the oldest plantations dating back to the Roman era 🏺. The wines are all produced around rivers, mainly the Rhine and its tributaries, often sheltered by mountains. The rivers have significant microclimatic effects to moderate the temperature.

The German wine regions are some of the most northerly in the world. There are about 13 designated wine areas in Germany, with white wine making up the majority (almost two thirds) of the country's total wine output. The best wine is made from the Riesling grape variety, which is native to the Rhine region. 🍷
