International School Neustadt A full-day school, fostering each child's talents and passions from Cambridge Primary to A Level

With around 80 students from over 16 nations, ISN offers a caring family atmosphere both for expatriates and local families. Expatriate families enjoy the social network at ISN which eases integration into a new location, while local German parents benefit from the innovative educational program and English language instruction. ISN offers the Cambridge Primary and IGCSE (International General Cer

tificate of Secondary Education) programs, and is an accredited examination center for Cambridge International Examinations, offering the full range of English examinations. ISN's campuses include a number of adjacent vineyard villas and the school offers a full day program from 8am until 5pm. While the main language of instruction is English, German classes are also taught daily to all students from beginner to native-speaker level. Before- and after-school adult supervision is available each day to students from kindergarten up to grade 5. ISN also provides a wide range of after-school activities including music, drama, art and sports. The school is owned and managed by the famous Swiss education provider, SBW Haus des Lernens, which has over 40 years of experience in the field of private education, currently managing more than 10 schools throughout Switzerland and Germany. Some of the innovative approaches developed by SBW and implemented at ISN include personalized student coaching, autonomous learning and the development of learning skills.

🎨✨ Art Lovers, Save the Date! ✨🎨

Keiko Yamagiwa, a talented Japanese artist and cherished member of the ISN community will be exhibiting her latest works at the Jens Ritter Gallery in Deidesheim.

‘‘Now I Speak’’ showcases her latest works presenting a new series that explores themes of social oppression in Japanese society, human existence, and absurdity through imaginative portrayals of animals and robots, inspired by her early sketchbooks (2002–2006).

Keiko began creating her "feeling diary" during her first trip to Africa in 2002. Over the years, she has produced more than 50 sketchbooks, capturing her inner thoughts on humanity and society through humorous, anthropomorphized characters. Her artistic vision is shaped by her upbringing surrounded by Japan’s anime and character culture, as well as her diverse experiences in Tokyo, London, and Africa.

Today, our Year 2 learning partners brought joy to the residents of the Caritas-Altenzentrum St. Ulrich Neustadt with a lovely little Christmas concert.

Not only did they sing English carols, but they also shared traditional German Christmas songs, creating a beautiful moment when young and old joined together to sing O Tannenbaum. 🎤🎅

Our Year 11 learning partners, who regularly visit the Altenzentrum as part of their Creativa lessons, accompanied the Year 2s. They had some Christmas verses prepared and had wrapped little gifts for the elderly people. 🎁❤️

These moments of connection remind us what Christmas is about—sharing joy and kindness with others. ✨

🎄✨ A Wonderful Christmas Morning ✨🎄

Our wonderful P&F organized a lovely Christmas event with homemade cookies, cakes, hot cocoa, and Christmas tea. Everyone was invited to wear their Ugly Christmas Jumpers, which made it even more fun!

The children enjoyed the delicious treats and then proudly hung the ornaments they had made or brought from home on our beautiful Christmas tree. This year we got the tree from Frank John- Das Hirschhorner Weinkontor and it’s perfect! 🌟

Thank you to all the parents for your support and for making this morning so festive. We’re officially ready for Christmas! 😊🎁

Last Friday, we hosted the ISN Winter Show at the Hirschalm Neustadt , and what a wonderful evening it was! 🎉 Our learning partners gave it their all and delivered an amazing program! 🎶✨ They sang, danced, and wowed us all. A huge thank you to all the performers! 👏

🐾 A Pawsome Adventure at the Vet! 🩺

This morning, our Year 1 learning partners enjoyed a very special visit. As part of their GPTU lessons, where they are currently exploring their local environment with a focus on animals, they visited the veterinary practice of Dr. Perkhofer in Neustadt.

It was truly a memorable visit! Not only did the children get to witness a live animal examination, but they also explored the entire practice. They saw an X-ray of a dog's belly, learned how animals' teeth are cleaned, discovered where surgeries take place, and even got a peek at the recovery area where animals wake up after their procedures. The highlight was getting up close with a real animal skull - how exciting! ✨

A huge thank you to Dr. Perkhofer and her team for taking the time to make this an unforgettable day for us.

Our Year 6 to Year 9 Learning Partners had the exciting opportunity to visit the BASF Teens' Lab, where they engaged in an enriching experimental program based on nutrition. 🧪
They explored the composition and properties of food and drinks using analytical techniques like titration and starch/fat analysis. Together, they tackled questions like:

🍹 What vitamins are in drinks?
🍋 What’s the pH of lemonade?
🍬 What makes it sweet?

Resilience Challenge: Bouldering! 🧗‍♂️✨

Our Secondary Years Learning Partners went to the local PETZ Boulderhalle Neustadt and tried their hand at bouldering—a completely new sport for some of them.

With expert coaching, they tackled new challenges, learned how to fall safely, and, most importantly, how to get back up and try again! 💪

This ties perfectly with our learner profile focus this month: resilience. 🌟 Learning to embrace failure, push through, and grow stronger is a lesson that applies far beyond the climbing wall.

Our learning partners had a fantastic time, built confidence, and discovered a fulfilling new activity. A little tired, but definitely inspired! 🧗‍♀️💥

Every year on November 11, children and families across Germany gather to remember Saint Martin, known for his kindness and generosity. The story goes that Martin, a Roman soldier, saw a poor man shivering in the cold and shared his warm cloak with him. Inspired by his compassion, people today celebrate with lantern processions, songs, and bonfires, lighting up the night in remembrance of sharing and caring for one another. 🕯️💛

Our Year 1 learning partners and their parents came together today for a Saint Martin’s Day celebration. The learning partners performed the story of Saint Martin, sang the traditional songs, walked with their self-made lanterns through the school, and enjoyed delicious Martinsbrezeln. 🏮🥨🕯

October as Pink Month has come to an end and now we’re turning our attention to November or Movember as it has become more commonly called. 📢

While October focuses on female-specific cancers, Movember shines a light on men’s health and cancer awareness.

To show our support, some of our ISN staff are growing a ‘Mo’ for the whole month! They started clean-shaven and will be growing their own distinctive pieces of facial fuzz. ✂️🧔‍♂️

Yesterday, our Year 4-8 learning partners had an incredible opportunity to visit ESA's European Space Operations Centre (ESOC) in Darmstadt for the Hera Mission launch event! 🌍✨ Hera is Europe's first asteroid mission, set to explore a binary asteroid system. 🌑🔍 Our learning partners tuned in for the livestream of the launch, watching Hera take off on a SpaceX Falcon 9 from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, USA. Yesterday, our ISN community came together for the annual ISN Wandertag. We started at the meeting point and made our way to Klausentalhütte Diedesfeld. The weather?
